Tennis scoring has remained largely unchanged for centuries. But arguably the game's greatest ever player, Novak Djokovic, would like to see it change.Novak Djokovic's accolades in tennis are unmatched. On raw numbers alone, it is hard to dispute that the Serbian is the greatest player in the history of men's tennis.AdvertisementWhile Djokovic is known for his relentless and powerful style on the court, he's been known to have some wild ideas off the court. And now he wants to change traditions that are centuries old.Tennis scoring, and how many games it takes to win a set, have remained the same for about 500 years. However, Nole believes that it's time to reduce those and fundamentally change the game.Novak Djokovic wants sets to be to four games instead of six, and to abolish the tiebreaker systemAs the system is now, a player needs to win six games to win a set. And in men's tennis, every match at the majors follows best-of-5 logic. Basically, the first to win three sets wins.AdvertisementIf a set is tied at 6-6, there is a tiebreaker in place to decide the winner. According to Djokovic, though, this entire system needs to be scrapped altogether."I think tennis needs a new scoring system," Djokovic said, as per AOL. "Sets should not be played up to six games. I believe that a set should be played up to four games, with the possible abolition of the 'advantage' rule at 40:40."Matches would be played until someone wins three such shortened sets. That way, matches would not last longer than two hours, which, in my opinion, is best for everyone."That is a wild opinion, indeed. It would be tough to find many fans who agree with Novak on this one. He may know more tennis than just about anyone else, but Djokovic's idea is unlikely to ever be implemented.AdvertisementRead more:
