Nepal beat UAE in final to qualify for Asia Cup

Nepal's cricket team defeated the UAE by 44 runs in the ACC Premier Cup final in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and secured a place in the Asia Cup. This was reported by The National. Nepal captain Sandeep Lamichhane dedicated the victory and trophy to the victims of recent flooding in the country and called for support for those affected.

Nepal scored 313 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their innings. Asif Sheikh was named player of the final after scoring 102 runs. He was supported by Arjun Kamal with 43 runs, Rohit Paudel with 40, and Gulshan Jha with 52.

In response, the UAE's Rahul Chopra also scored a century — his second in his last three ODI matches. Tanish Suri scored 42 runs from 28 balls at the start, while Chopra and Sohaib Khan added 87 runs for the sixth wicket. After Khan was dismissed and Chopra suffered a leg injury, the UAE team was unable to catch up with their opponent.

Captain's appeal

Lamichhane said the team remembers the people who died or are still suffering because of flooding in Nepal. He called on people to help the country and said the victory and trophy were dedicated to those affected.

Nepal's captain was named player of the tournament for the number of wickets he took. According to him, different players made significant contributions to the team's results in different matches throughout the competition. Next year, Nepal will play in the Asia Cup in Bangladesh, where its opponents will include the national teams of India and Pakistan.

After the defeat, UAE captain Harprit Bhatia noted the team's progress in recent 50-over match series. Before the final, the UAE had a six-match winning streak, but in the decisive match they lost early wickets after a strong start.
