Barau FC midfielder, Nana Kwame Abraham, has confirmed his return to training days after sustaining a minor injury during the crowd violence that erupted in Katsina following his team’s NPFL Matchday 12 encounter against Katsina United.

The Ghanaian player, who was earlier reported to have suffered a life-threatening throat injury, has debunked the viral claims, describing them as false and misleading.

Recounting the incident, Kwame explained that he was struck by a flying object thrown from the stands while celebrating his team’s equalizer.

“During the match, we were losing before we equalized. While celebrating, some fans started throwing objects onto the pitch. One hit me, and I started bleeding,” he said.

He added that medical staff quickly attended to him amid chaos as fans continued throwing stones, forcing the doctors to seek cover.

Now on the mend, the midfielder expressed gratitude to the club’s medical team and assured fans of his imminent return.

“With the help of our doctors, I’m feeling much better. Hopefully, I’ll resume full training by Wednesday,” he confirmed.

Nana Kwame also urged journalists and social media users to verify information before publishing, warning that fake news could cause unnecessary panic.

“There’s nothing like my throat being slit — that’s false,” he stressed. “I was only hit by an object. Please verify before posting or sharing.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has sanctioned Katsina United, ordering them to play subsequent home matches away from Katsina and imposing a ₦9 million fine for the crowd disturbance.
