Liverpool will return to Anfield to face Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon as fan protests continue

Liverpool will be looking ahead to the summer transfer window as they aim to finish the current season on a high. The Reds face Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, where fans have planned a stadium-wide protest over rising ticket prices.

Arne Slot has urged supporters to back the team as they count down their final five games of the campaign. He said: "As long as I'm in football there are disagreements, and they are always about people with best interests of the club. Two weeks ago there was a protest and we had felt we had the full support of the fans. We will need the support of the fans."

The Liverpool boss has faced his own backlash this season, with former boss Jurgen Klopp linked with a move back to steady the ship. Slot has handled pressure in the Anfield dugout following a disappointing Champions League exit and a run of tough domestic results.

OPINION

With just a few games remaining, the Dutchman will be checking off a list of names of rising stars that could be pulling on the famous shirt at Liverpool next season.

Here, Mirror Football has the latest coming out of Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp's return stance

Klopp suggested he could consider a return to management following the opening of the New York Red Bulls' new training facility. The ex-Liverpool manager joked that bad weather was the only thing putting him off at the unveiling earlier this week.

Klopp called time on his managerial career in 2024, departing the Reds to become Red Bull's global head of soccer. But since his departure, speculation has only continued to grow about a potential return to the touchline.

In his role with Red Bull, Klopp attended the New York Red Bulls training facility opening, where he made his stance on a return clear. He said: "This morning was a moment when I walked in and thought 'oh that's something I could miss,' because so far I didn't miss anything since I stepped down as a manager.

"But going into a building like that on a good weather day ... thank God the weather was not great otherwise I would have maybe gone back [to management]. Really cool."

Discussing the facility, Klopp said: "It's a good moment for soccer, for Red Bull New York. I had nothing to do with the plans and stuff like this. I walked through a few months ago and made a few little changes because it's not the first time I'm involved in something like that. It's beautiful and it feels like a proper start."

Dream transfer 'accelerates'

Liverpool have reportedly held meetings with Yan Diomande's representatives ahead of a potential move this summer. The RB Leipzig star is seen as a potential replacement for the departing Mohamed Salah, who is leaving the Reds at the season's end after a stellar nine-year tenure.

The 19-year-old has big shoes to fill given Salah's 350-plus goal contributions at Anfield. However, the winger has 12 goals and 17 assists so far this season, which has caught the eye of many clubs.

An asking price of around £86million has been placed on the teenager, with Paris Saint-Germain another major club that has shown interest in the youngster.
