Opener Abhishek Sharma and spinner Varun Chakravarthy made huge progress in the recent ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings after helping the Indian cricket team win its five-match home series against England by a 4-1 margin.Abhishek’s spectacular 54-ball 135 for India in the final match of the series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai helped him progress 38 spots to second position, moving ahead of compatriot Tilak Varma and only behind Australia’s Travis Head.Varun Chakravarthy also moved up to second position, gaining three slots in the T20I bowlers rankings, after taking a couple of wickets each in the last two matches of the series that were considered for the weekly update.Chakravarthy’s 14 wickets - the most by any player in the India vs England T20 2025 series - enabled him to move up to joint-second with English leg-spinner Adil Rashid, who slipped behind Akeal Hossein after taking the top spot last week.Harry Brook is up three places to 42nd after a knock of 51 in the fourth T20 in Pune while Hardik Pandya (up five places to 51st), Rinku Singh (up five places to 55th), Shivam Dube (up 38 places to 58th) and Ben Duckett (up six places to 62nd) are the other batters to move up after the series.In the T20I bowling rankings, India’s leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi moved up from 10th to sixth after grabbing four wickets in the last two matches while England seam bowler Saqib Mahmood’s figures of three for 35 in the fourth match helped him gain 28 places to 57th. Pacer Mark Wood (up nine places to 60th) and Brydon Carse (up 62 places to 66th) were the others to progress.
