Amorim Must Unleash 'Special' Man Utd Academy Star v Wolves After New Comments

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim must finally hand young striker Chido Obi his full debut when the team hosts Wolves at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds completed a stunning comeback in the Europa League quarter-final second leg over Lyon to clinch their place in the semi-final, keeping their hopes of securing Champions League football by winning the competition alive by the skin of their teeth.

But the victory may have come at a price, with the team forced to go through 120 minutes of action ahead of a busy schedule, and Amorim has already made it clear that he is looking to prioritise the cup competition over the Premier League.

Amorim Must Give Obi His First Start

Yoro believes he can become 'one of the world's best'

Speaking after the game against the Ligue 1 side, Amorim admitted that he may have to "risk" playing "the kids" in the Premier League in order to ensure he has a fully fit squad for the semi-final clashes with Athletic Club de Bilbao later this month.

"We will have to be really focused on the Europa League. We will take a risk with kids in the Premier League, the fans have to understand that."

One of the players who should undoubtedly be at the front of the queue for those extra minutes is young striker Chido Obi, who made his first-team debut earlier this year as a 16-year-old following his summer move from Arsenal.

The Danish youth international has had a fine start to life at Old Trafford with the academy sides, scoring goals and developing his overall game to become a more all-round threat. So much so, that star defender Leny Yoro believes he could become one of the world's best strikers in the years to come.

"Chido is talented and I think he can become one of the world's best strikers if he continues his development. He scores a lot of goals and he is also a good kid, so I hope he can fulfill his potential."

Perfect Time for Chido Obi to Start

Hojlund is struggling

Amorim will lead his Man Utd side into battle once more on Sunday against a Wolves side who have won each of their last four fixtures, and have managed to move away from a relegation battle in recent weeks.

That means United will need to be at their best to get something in front of their fans, and they will not want to go out with a whimper even if their priority is on the Europa League now.

Obi impressed in appearances earlier this season, and Amorim has admitted that he will likely get more minutes in the coming weeks.

"Chido, when he played he played quite well. It's a difficult moment, it's not the right moment for the kids to play, but if we have to do it we will do it. "Will Obi get more minutes? Yes, I think so. Yes."

Rasmus Hojlund is the only fit senior natural striker at the club currently, and he has scored just once in his last 27 appearances. But he will have to play in the Europa League with Obi ineligible, and that means he must be rested and fully focused.

There is no doubting that Obi, who has been described as 'complete' and 'special', is ready to step up and be given an opportunity. An in-form Wolves side at home would allow Amorim to unleash him and see if he can make an impact at this level, while also allowing the manager to keep to his word.

Fans want to see him and he's earned his chance, especially with the rest of the attackers in the squad misfiring.
