India’s Yuki Bhambri and N Sriram Balaji both progressed to the second round of the men’s doubles event at the French Open 2026 tennis tournament on Tuesday.

Yuki Bhamri and his partner Michael Venus of New Zealand defeated Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo and Mariano Kestelboim 7-5, 6-2 to sail into the next round of Roland Garros.

The first set remained on serve until the pivotal 11th game, when Yuki Bhambri and Michael Venus earned the decisive break against the Argentine pair before holding serve in the following game to seal the opener.

With momentum on their side, Yuki Bhambri and Michael Venus broke the Argentine duo again early in the second set before going on to wrap up the contest in an hour and 23 minutes.

Yuki Bhamri, the top-ranked Indian tennis player in men’s doubles currently, is also a part of the mixed doubles draw at the French Open. He will partner Alexandra Panova to take on David Pel of the Netherlands and Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine in the first round on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Paris 2024 Olympian N Sriram Balaji and his partner Marcelo Demoliner of Brazil beat Germany’s Constantin Frantzen and the Netherlands’ three-time Olympian Robin Haase 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in an hour and 46 minutes to enter the second round.

N Sriram Balaji and Marcelo Demoliner made a strong start, breaking Constantin Frantzen and Robin Haase early in the third game to seize control of the opening set.

The Indo-Brazilian pair then secured a second break in the ninth game by converting their third set point opportunity to go ahead.

Constantin Frantzen and Robin Haase responded in the second set by breaking Balaji and Demoliner in the seventh game before holding firm on serve to level the contest and force a deciding set.

Frantzen and Haase faltered early in the deciding set, dropping serve in the second game and allowing the Indo-Brazilian pair to capitalise on the break en route to closing out the match and booking a spot in the second round.
