Ben Foster argues Man Utd ace isn't right 'vibe' for Ruben Amorim's team, he can't unsee 'big contrast' in one case

Ben Foster has pulled no punches towards one Manchester United star who he does not believe is a team player for Ruben Amorim’s men.

Ruben Amorim is now looking ahead to the start of the pre-season campaign with Manchester United after a turbulent 2024-25 campaign at Old Trafford.

The 40-year-old United manager took over the Red Devils in 2024 and the Premier League club limped to a 15th-place finish in the league table last season.

The Red Devils will also be without European football for the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford after United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May.

Amorim, who arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP, is now expected to make sweeping changes to his United first-team squad in the summer transfer window.

The former Sporting CP head coach inherited his squad from ex-United and Ajax manager Erik ten Hag, who was sacked by the Premier League club last October.

Ben Foster dropped a ruthless assessment of Alejandro Garnacho and sent his warning to Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim

Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Manchester United has been plunged into doubt in recent weeks amid a fractured relationship with Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim.

The 20-year-old Spain-born attacker netted 11 times and registered 10 assists in 58 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils in the 2024-25 campaign.

However, Alejandro Garnacho was critical of Amorim’s decision to drop him for United’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham in the 2025 Europa League final in Bilbao.

Roberto Garnacho, who is the United winger’s brother, also pulled no punches after he suggested that the Argentina star was “thrown under the bus” last season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Ben Foster suggested that it would be in United and Amorim’s best interest to now sell Garnacho in the summer transfer window.

“I think for Man United it’s best to ship [him] out,” he said.

“If I [were] the manager, I’d be a little bit similar to Amorim in the case of I just want team players.

“I want a bunch of lads who are good, honest, hardworking team players. And I don’t get that vibe from Garnacho, I don’t get that vibe from a few of the players.”

Alejandro Garnacho climbed off the bench in the second half of the Europa League final between United and Tottenham and replaced Mason Mount in the 71st minute.

The Argentina international was lively in his performance at the San Mames Stadium, but not even Garnacho could rescue United from slipping to a defeat to Tottenham.

“You look at the full-time whistle after the Europa League game. You have Brennan Johnson doing an interview,” Foster added.

“He looks like he hasn’t had a haircut for about three months, [hair] horrible all over the place, but his interview was incredible.

“You could tell he’s a real nice lad, he’s hard working, he does everything for the team. Then you look at Garnacho. Fresh trim a day ago, dyed blonde ready for the final.

“The full-time whistle goes, he’s sat on the pitch sulking by himself, not trying to get behind the other lads, picking them up, saying, ‘Well done, we got this far.’

“And I think that there is [a] big contrast. I just want good lads, honest, hard-working lads.”

Garnacho is under contract with United until 2028 and has attracted interest from clubs in Europe, including Premier League side Chelsea and Serie A outfit Napoli.
