WTA Toronto Quarterfinal Predictions Including Iga Swiatek vs Diana Shnaider

The first two women’s quarterfinals at the 2026 National Bank Open WTA Toronto are set from the top half of the draw. It features #7 seed Iga Swiatek and #9 seed Elina Svitolina taking on Diana Shnaider and Ekaterina Alexandrova, respectively. Elina Svitolina vs Ekaterina Alexandrova

Head-to-Head: Svitolina 3-1 Alexandrova

2017 champion Elina Svitolina defeated #8 seed Amanda Anisimova in straight sets to advance to her fourth quarterfinal at the Canadian Open. She was helped by Anisimova, who was error-prone and only got going when the match was almost over. Svitolina hasn’t made a semifinal in over two months, and I think this is a great chance for her to do so.

Ekaterina Alexandrova tends to bring out her best tennis against Aryna Sabalenka, and that’s how she defeated the World No.1 once again. Her “nothing to lose” attitude when playing Sabalenka helps her play freely, and she did just that in the fourth round. Her forehand and backhand were firing when it mattered the most. However, she might not be able to bring that same intensity and level against Svitolina, who has the advantage in this matchup. They are playing for the first time in over five years, but the Ukrainian should advance with her superior base level.

Iga Swiatek vs Diana Shnaider

Head-to-Head: Swiatek 1-0 Shnaider

Iga Swiatek rallied from a set down to beat Marta Kostyuk and avenge the French Open loss. After a shaky first set full of breaks, the six-time major champion stabilised her serve and dominated the last two sets, converting her sixth match point. This would have felt great for Swiatek, especially with the level she produced. With Aryna Sabalenka out, Swiatek is the favourite to reach the final from this half of the draw.

Diana Shnaider upset Jessica Pegula to get her third career top-10 win. The conditions were windy, and Shnaider dealt with them much better than her opponent. Shnaider has played Swiatek once, and she put up a great fight. Expect a close match, but Swiatek should advance if she plays at her best.
