HONOLULU – The 48th-ranked University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (5-4, 2-0 Big West) began its match against Bucknell tonight, but the match was ultimately rained out due to inclement weather during singles competition. The match will not be made up.

Originally scheduled at 4 p.m., the match was delayed until 6:30 p.m. because of soggy weather conditions. Despite the delay, the teams managed to begin singles play before worsening conditions caused the match to end.

The 'Bows showed strong momentum in singles before the match was called. UH's Grete Gull captured a competitive first set over Bucknells' Tori Allen, 6-3, and had built a 4-2 lead in the second set before play was halted due to the weather. Makeilah Nepomuceno dominated her opening set, blanking Bisons' Abby Platt 6-0, and was in firm control of the second set at 5-1 before play was ultimately called.

UH's Sophie Rachor claimed the opening set of her match against Natalie Devraj, 6-4. On another court, Hannah Galindo was in control against Kate Purpura, leading 6-1, 3-1, before play was called. UH's Allaire Berl was on the verge of a sweep against Bucknell's Mariana Shulman, leading 6-0, 3-0, before the match was halted due to weather.
