Hollywood star Ben Stiller posts heartfelt tribute to Novak Djokovic after Australian Open defeat

Novak Djokovic lost the Australian Open final to Carlos Alcaraz in four sets on Sunday.

Djokovic won the first set 6-2 and it looked like he was on course to win his 25th Grand Slam.

However, Alcaraz responded by dominating the next three sets to lift the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup.

The blockbuster match drew attention from celebrities of all kinds, including Hollywood actor Ben Stiller.

Night at the Museum star Ben Stiller has followed tennis for a while and has been spotted in the crowd at the US Open.

He also posts about tennis on social media, which he has done once more after the Australian Open men’s singles final.

Stiller was particularly impressed by Djokovic’s valiant effort against Alcaraz at 38 years old.

“What a run by Djokovic. His class, perspective, and humor in this moment,” he tweeted.

“The era of tennis he, Rafa, and Roger dominated was so special. His journey and relationship with the fans are so unique… up, down, but always human and so real and evolved.

“And he is still playing at this level. Don’t know if we will ever have this again.”

Unfortunately for tennis fans, Novak Djokovic may have played his last Australian Open match.

The Serbian is still playing at a world-class level, but it feels like this was his best chance to win another slam.

It seems highly unlikely that a player of his calibre would be happy to participate unless he believes that he could win.

Djokovic also hinted at a potential retirement in his post-game interview, failing to mention that he will be back next year.
