Arsenal are off to a strong start with their Premier League title defence and they will be keen to maintain the winning habit when they take on Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Gunners came within a whisker of winning last season's Champions League, but they are going to have to start all over again and will be respectful of Napoli, who finished second in Serie A last season.

Napoli vs Arsenalpreview

Arsenal won all eight of their matches in last season's Champions League league phase but they might have to accept a share of the spoils against Napoli, who are tough to beat on home soil.

Keeping a settled side seems to be paying off for the Gunners, who continued their 100 per cent start to the Premier League season with Sunday's 2-1 triumph at home to Chelsea.

However, Arsenal were far from free-flowing against the Blues and they were even less convincing when grinding out a 1-0 success at Aston Villa.

The fixture at Villa Park featured only seven goal attempts for each side, and there is the likelihood of another evenly balanced contest against Napoli, who will be anxious to respond after an uncertain start to their Serie A campaign.

Moving on from Antonio Conte is proving to be a tricky challenge for Napoli, who finished first and second in their two Serie A seasons under the ex-Tottenham gaffer.

Conte's relationship with Napoli concluded after the end of last season and his successor, Massimiliano Allegri, is off to a rocky start with only three points taken from their opening three games.

However, Napoli's defeats - 2-1 at home to Como and 3-2 away to Inter - were against the teams who finished fourth and first last season.

And Napoli showed plenty of positive signs in Saturday's loss against Inter, where they had forged 2-1 ahead until succumbing to late goals from Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez.

Gli Azzurri may be one big performance away from turning the tide and they have an excellent record at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, losing just three of their 25 Champions League home games during the last ten years.

Napoli exited last season's Champions League after the league phase following a 3-2 loss at home to Chelsea, but they have their sights set on a more productive 2026-27 European campaign after receiving a favourable draw which includes home games against Bodo/Glimt, Club Brugge and Viking.

Before facing those challenges, Napoli would love to start off with an eye-catching result against one of the tournament favourites.

They have had success at home to heavyweight teams in the fairly recent past, including a trio of victories over Liverpool (1-0, 2-0 and 4-1) in 2018, 2019 and 2022.

Arsenal will be aware of the size of the challenge against a strong team in an intimidating atmosphere and their expectations may be adjusted accordingly.

Mikel Arteta's side have shown the knack of winning tight games, but they are less reliable on the road and could be limited to a single point.

Slick Saka can hit the target

Bukayo Saka has made a bright start to the season, scoring twice in three appearances.

The in-form England international has had nine shots (five of them on target) and should at least force a save out of home goalkeeper Alex Meret.

Napoli vs Arsenal Bet Builder

Napoli or draw double chance

Napoli will be eager to respond after back-to-back defeats and can deny Arsenal a fourth win of the season.

Rafa Marin to be shown a card

The central defender has committed seven fouls in his first three Napoli appearances and looks a strong card candidate.

Both teams to score

Napoli usually find the net but they may struggle to keep the Gunners at bay.
