Arsenal are close to finalising a deal for Bruno Guimaraes as Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham also work to secure some statement summer signings during a busy window. The Gunners have also not given up on Vinicius Junior or Julian Alvarez and are said to be about to make a surprise defender signing, having reportedly been offered Maxi Araujo as they also welcome two new wonderkids in Axel Donczew and Mylo Bernard.

Manchester United are eyeing a swoop for Igor Thiago, while they are also believed to be pondering a bid for Lewis Hall following Eddie Howe’s abrupt exit from Newcastle, where Matthias Jaissle will take over this weekend. Chelsea are set to confirm the arrivals of Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck after unveiling Maxence Lacroix, while Liverpool are stepping up their big-money pursuit of Bradley Barcola amid new links to Japan star Kaishu Sano.

Roberto De Zerbi has hinted at a shock imminent “bomba” transfer for ambitious Tottenham, seemingly separate from their move for Savinho. Latest Tottenham transfer 'bomba' imminent

Big-spending Tottenham appear to be closing in on the seventh signing of a busy summer window as their aggressive transfer drive continues.

Spurs have welcomed six new arrivals in recent weeks and spent in excess of £200m as they bid to compete at the right end of the Premier League table after back-to-back 17th-place finishes and a near-disastrous flirt with relegation last term.

Tottenham are showing serious ambition for their first full campaign under head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who teased yesterday that another transfer “bomba” was on the way.

It seems it will be separate from Spurs’ ongoing push to land Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City.

"The transfer market, it's not finished for sure, but we completed 60 per cent of our project in the transfer market. Now we have another bomba,” De Zerbi told reporters in Sydney, where Tottenham are preparing for a pre-season friendly against Chelsea.

"I hope [the deal is done soon], but it's not finished for sure.”

Man Utd weigh up shock Igor Thiago move

Manchester United are interested in a shock swoop for Brentford striker Igor Thiago.

Bruno Guimaraes’ Brazil team-mate has been superb for the Bees, scoring 25 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions last season.

Thiago signed a new long-term contract in west London back in February, though continues to attract high-profile transfer interest.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the 25-year-old is someone who has been discussed internally at Old Trafford, with a player call taking place to better understand his situation.

United want a new striker with Joshua Zirkzee likely off back to Serie A, having also been linked to Ollie Watkins and Dusan Vlahovic in recent days.

Arsenal double deal close after Bruno Guimaraes talks

Arsenal are reportedly set to clinch a double transfer after a belated breakthrough in their long-running pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes.

Standard Sport understands that a deal worth around £75m to £80m for the influential Newcastle captain is close to being finalised, with an end now finally in sight to the summer’s most protracted saga.

Guimaraes is due back at Newcastle for pre-season today before they fly to La Manga for a training camp under new boss Matthias Jaissle, who is replacing Eddie Howe.

In addition to that, ESPN Brazil have claimed that Arsenal are also closing in on a shock defender signing to compensate for the back injury suffered by William Saliba.

However, the identity of that player remains unknown at the moment.

Harvey Elliott: I'm ready to win back my Liverpool place

Harvey Elliott says he is desperate to win back his place at Liverpool after a dismal loan spell at Aston Villa, which he insists he does not regret.

The forward spent last season at Villa Park but found himself in no man’s land as he was left out of Unai Emery’s plans and Liverpool refused to cut his loan short.

He made just nine appearances over the course of the season, but still picked up a Europa League winners’ medal at the end of the season.

Elliott has now returned to Liverpool and has featured in both of the club’s pre-season matches under Andoni Iraola.

He remains unsure, though, whether his future lies at Anfield or elsewhere. He told reporters: “I’m not too sure yet [if he fits into Iraola’s plan]. That’s a conversation for me to have more in detail with him.

“Right now I’m just thinking about making sure I’m physically and mentally 100 per cent, and trying to impress on the pitch,” he said.

The Levante striker has seen his release clause triggered by Los Blancos, and will move for €25m (£21.4m).

He has already undergone a medical with the club.

Staveley eyes West Ham stake

A consortium led by former Newcastle co-owner Amanda Stavely is in talks to buy 25 per cent of West Ham.

The group are reported by BBC Sport to be open to becoming majority shareholders but are presently only interested in a smaller stake.

She is said to have secured global investment in the bid.

Joelinton wants to leave Newcastle

It really is a bad day to be a Newcastle fan.

With Eddie Howe and Bruno Guimaraes both seemingly out the door, it has now been revealed that Joelinton is keen to leave the club this summer, too.

The 29-year-old Brazilian is reported by the Daily Mail to be keen on a move to Saudi Arabia, though he is yet to receive an offer.

The report adds Guimaraes’ exit from the club is ‘more likely than not’.

The 22-year-old is expected to cost the Blues at least £85m but has been earmarked as a priority target by Xabi Alonso.

Mamadou Sangare is set to undergo a Brentford medical on Friday ahead of completing a transfer from Lens.
