Down on the road again as Tailteann Cup Round 3 draw made

After losing to Offaly, pre-competition favourites Down are on the road again in Round 3 of the Tailteann Cup, with Longford the opposition for Conor Laverty's side.

The Mourne County, winners in 2024, now have to go the long route after their loss to the Faithful in Tullamore.

Longford, for their part, recorded an excellent win over Clare to make it this far.

Leitrim play host to Wexford. Stephen Poacher's troops turned in a strong second-half performance to defeat Carlow on Saturday, while the Slaneysiders will look to bounce back after losing to Fermanagh.

Aughrim will see another championship game with Wicklow welcoming Tipperary. The Garden County got their campaign back on track when defeating Limerick at the weekend, in what was a repeat of last year's semi-final. Tipp found Antrim too good in their Round 2A clash on Sunday afternoon.

The final pairing sees London have home advantage for their date with Sligo.

After being well beaten by Laois the Exiles will look for a response against their Connacht rivals who easily accounted for Waterford in Round 2B.

The draw for the preliminary quarter-final was also made, with New York travelling to Brewster Park to take on Fermanagh.

The above games will take place on the weekend of 6/7 June.

A week later will see the quarter-finals, where Antrim, Laois and Offaly have already secured their spots.
