T20 World Cup 2026 squads - full list of players

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will be staged across India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, with 20 international cricket teams competing for the sport’s biggest prize in the shortest format.

The 10th edition of the tournament will follow the same format as the 2024 T20 World Cup, featuring 55 matches across eight venues - five in India and three in Sri Lanka.

Defending champions India are the joint-most successful nation in men’s T20 World Cup history with two titles. West Indies and England are also two-time champions.

However, the co-hosts will be without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both of whom retired from T20Is after India’s title triumph in 2024.

Rohit Sharma, who was also part of the Indian cricket team which won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, has been named the brand ambassador of the 2026 edition.

Shubman Gill, the country’s ODI and Test captain, has also been left out of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad.

England named Harry Brook as captain for the 2026 edition while announcing a 15-member provisional squad on January 1.

England have retained several key players from their previous campaigns, including Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid and Phil Salt. Brook, Buttler, Curran, Rashid and Salt were also part of England’s 2022 title-winning side.

Australia, champions in 2021, will be led by Mitchell Marsh. The selectors have backed the experienced trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David in a provisional 15-member squad despite injury concerns.

South Africa, meanwhile, received a major boost with Kagiso Rabada returning after more than two months on the sidelines due to a rib injury. Aiden Markram will captain the Proteas for a second successive T20 World Cup.

Rabada will headline a strong Proteas pace attack that includes Anrich Nortje, Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi, Corbin Bosch and teenage left-armer Kwena Maphaka. Seven members of South Africa’s squad were part of their run to the final of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Six teams have won the men’s T20 World Cup to date. Sri Lanka and Pakistan, both former champions with one title each, are yet to announce their final squads.

The deadline for final squad submissions is January 31.
