Jack Grealish gave agent blunt message after talks that sealed Everton transfer

The new Everton loan signing has been speaking about talks with David Moyes that convinced him to join the club

Jack Grealish has revealed he told his agent he only wanted to sign for Everton this summer. That's after he held talks with David Moyes.

Grealish has joined the Blues on loan for the upcoming season after falling out of favour at Manchester City. The 29-year-old won three Premier League titles at the Etihad Stadium and played a crucial role in the team's treble win in 2022-23.

Since then, his importance has diminished under Pep Guardiola and this summer he was left out of the squad for the Club World Cup. From that point on, a transfer always felt like it was on the cards.

Everton have been linked with a move all for the past couple of months and Grealish has confirmed that meeting Moyes made his mind up about where he wanted to play next.

"People are going to think: 'He's just saying this because he's there [at Everton]'. But I'm not - I was saying to Seamus [Coleman] and Tarky [James Tarkowski] this morning, when I had my first chat with the manager it was the reason I wanted to come here.

"I said to my agent: 'I don't want to go anywhere else. If we can get this deal done, then I want to go and play for Everton'.

"I've always known how big this club is and playing at Goodison Park over the years, it's been so tough. So I'm happy, I'm finally ready to be on their side."

While Moyes has clearly been key to facilitating the transfer, he is not the only Everton figure to have been in contact with Grealish.

One of the primary reasons for the midfielder leaving City has been to put himself back in contention for England.

Blues 'keeper Jordan Pickford has been an important figure for the Three Lions and has frequently been in squads alongside Grealish.

And the new Everton No.18 revealed that Pickford was also keen to see the deal get over the line.

"Pickers has been on at me the past month to come here," he said. "He was FaceTiming me from the golf-course the other morning asking me if it was happening yet.

"I've played with Jordan for England and he is incredible. Absolutely unbelievable goalkeeper and one of the best I've played with for sure.

"It's always nice to have a goalkeeper like that behind you and Jordan has only spoken good words about this football club. I'm delighted to be on his side."
