Marcus Rashford showed his true colours for BarcelonaMarcus Rashford has shown his genuine team spirit at Barcelona despite the disappointment of being hooked at half time. The Spanish giants were 2-0 down to Levante at the break on Saturday night, and the English forward put in a somewhat forgettable performance for the first 45 minutes, having one shot at goal and creating two chances from a left-wing position, before being substituted for Dani Olmo. However, Barca flexed their 'never say die' attitude on the pitch and swiftly brought the game back to 2-2, with goals from Pedri and Ferran Torres levelling things up just after the game restarted. As the fourth official signalled for added time, Lamine Yamal crossed in a ball that came off the head of a Levante defender and the ball ended up in the back of the net, completing the comeback for Hansi Flick's side. Read our Privacy PolicyDespite not participating in the impressive rally in the second half, Rashford has looked to make clear he is fully with the team, sending a positive message following the game, proving that teamwork and togetherness comes first for the man from Manchester United. Posting a few actions shots from the match on Instagram late on Saturday night, the 27-year-old captioned it: "Team spirit on! Vamos equipo," which means 'Let's go team' in Spanish. This well-placed statement on Instagram showcases Rashford's willingness to put the team first in front of any personal goals or desires for his career – which will go down well with fans, Flick and team-mates alike. The simple caption highlights the unlikelihood that the forward will throw a tantrum when it comes to team selection before or during the 90 minutes, as he came off under Flick's instruction without any complaints. When asked why Rashford was omitted from the second half of the game, the Barcelona boss praised the star's contribution to the side. However, Flick admitted that something different was needed to mount a comeback against a stuffy Levante side. The England international is full of team spirit following Barca's comebackSpeaking to the media post-match, Flick said: "Marcus had a few chances in the first half and showed he can help us. In the second half, we needed to make changes, and we put Raphinha on the wing. "I think they were the right changes to make. The first goal after the break changed the game." Rashford will have plenty of time to grow and develop under Flick, given that this was his first La Liga start so far – with a long season ahead of domestic league, cup and European football with the Spanish champions. Next up for the league leaders is another away trip, this time to Rayo Vallecano, before they welcome Valencia to their ground after the international break. Rashford will hope that his performances improve and goals begin to appear in Barca colours, as he fights for a place in the England squad ahead of the World Cup in 2026.Read Next
