Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has stated unequivocally that Pakistan will not remain passive as tensions escalate over the Asia Cup trophy controversy ahead of the upcoming ICC meeting in Dubai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to raise the issue during the ICC gathering scheduled from November 4 to 7. Naqvi’s remarks follow widespread speculation in the media regarding Pakistan’s potential withdrawal from the event.Speaking informally with journalists in Lahore, Naqvi confirmed that the PCB would participate fully in the meeting and ensure Pakistan’s position is clearly articulated, aiming to dispel any uncertainty surrounding its involvement. The controversy originates from the aftermath of the Asia Cup final, where the Indian team declined to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. The gesture drew criticism and ignited debate across cricketing circles. As the incident gained political traction, it has now become a formal agenda item for the ICC.Naqvi stressed that Pakistan would not allow India to dominate the narrative and affirmed the PCB’s intent to present its case with clarity and conviction before the international cricketing body.“We will not leave the field open for anyone. Pakistan will be part of the ICC meeting and will present its perspective on every issue,” Mohsin Naqvi reportedly told journalists. His statement underscores Pakistan’s growing resolve to assert its voice in the governance of international cricket—particularly in light of recurring episodes where diplomatic and sporting tensions have skewed the idea of neutral administrative proceedings. With the ICC meeting imminent, attention turns to Dubai, where Pakistan and India—two of cricket’s most influential stakeholders—are poised for another off-field confrontation. This time, the dispute centers on a trophy that has come to represent far more than just a tournament victory.
