West Ham supporters have been proved right yet again after a shocking update emerged involving flop striker Niclas Fullkrug.

Hammers fans often get a bad rap with some accusing them of being fickle, demanding and hard to please.

The reality, if anything, is that West Ham’s fanbase is actually quite easy to please as they have never expected to win every week or consistently compete for trophies.

They were proved right again as fans quipped that Fullkrug ended up doing more interviews and videos than he played matches in his dismal 18 months as a Hammer.

Fullkrug scored just three goals for West Ham before being shipped out on a straight loan to AC Milan for the rest of the season.

The Hammers were so keen to offload Fullkrug, they let him join up with Milan 10 days before the January window even opened so he could start training with his new side.

Including his wages, Fullkrug cost West Ham a staggering £34m for his 18 months in east London. That’s over £11m per goal.

The word flop doesn’t even come close to doing the signing of Fullkrug justice.

It was reported in Italy that Milan had made a decision on Fullkrug’s buy option after one training session.

Fullkrug delivered a typically brutal statement about his West Ham exit and revealed whether he intends to return for the final year of his contract if things don’t work out at Milan.

Agreeing to a straight loan always looked like a risky deal from West Ham’s point of view.

Yes Fullkrug’s wages would be covered for six months.

But the buy option is for a meagre £3.5m and with his history of injuries, fans warned there is a chance Milan will be put off unless he manages to steer clear of the San Siro treatment room.

When Fullkrug signed for Milan, many of their fans were lauding the capture.

Hammers supporters warned them not to get too excited as he would rarely play – and when he does would likely fail to impress.

What many said would happen has now materialised with grim predictability, reinforcing long-held frustrations and leaving fans feeling more vindicated than surprised by the latest turn in the striker’s troubled story.

West Ham flop Fullkrug predictably injured on full debut

According to multiple reports in Italy, Fullkrug is injured already – just 106 minutes into his AC Milan career.

Fullkrug has fractured his toe this time – with the injury predictably coming towards the end of his full Milan debut against Fiorentina.

Now the likes of Football Italia and Sky Sport Italia claim the on loan West Ham flop is facing a spell on the treatment table.

While it remains to be seen for how long the soon-to-be 33-year-old is out for, he is “expected to be out of action for several weeks”.

A familiar tale for Fullkrug and a potentially costly one for West Ham.

If he continues to suffer with constant injuries Milan won’t be taking up the purchase option and potential takers will be thin on the ground.

Ironically Fullkrug would probably be more suited to playing in the Championship – where most feel West Ham are headed.

But he has struggled to string three games together over the course of 18 months let alone in a week as it would be in English football’s second tier.
