FIFA World Cup 2026: Supercomputer Predicts Who Will Win Ahead of Round of 32 Games

Opta has predicted the teams with the biggest chances to win the 2026 World Cup ahead of the start of the knockout stages

2022 finalists France and Argentina have arguably been the most impressive sides so far after three group stage games

The Round of 32 will feature some interesting matches, including Portugal vs Croatia and Belgium vs Senegal

Opta's supercomputer has predicted who will win the 2026 World Cup as the action moves to the newly introduced Round of 32 tonight.

The initial 48 teams have been whittled down to 32 after three group-stage matches that saw lots of goals, high-octane action, and the stars coming out to play.

Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Ousmane Dembele were among the leading scorers in a stage that witnessed impeccable goalkeeping as well.

Who will win World Cup 2026?

Opta's simulations have shown that France are the most likely to win the World Cup at this stage with a 18.58% chance. Les Bleus have been flawless so far, beating Senegal 3-1, Iraq 3-0 and a much-changed Norwegian side 4-1.

Didier Deschamps' side will face Sweden in the Round of 32 before a potential Germany clash in the Round of 16. They will potentially play the Netherlands or Morocco in the quarter-finals.

Argentina are second with 16.00% as they seek to defend their title. As usual, Messi has been at the centre of everything, scoring six goals so far. They face the high-flying Cape Verde in the Round of 32 in the kinder side of the draw.

European champions Spain are third with 12.56%, with their only previous win coming in 2010 in South Africa. La Roja recovered from their opening goalless draw with Cape Verde to beat Saudi Arabia and Uruguay to top their group. They will face Austria in the Round of 32 and a potential Round of 16 against Portugal.

"This squad has been outstanding. Our team has been amazing. Our efforts led us to be in this situation at the top of the group. This is a long path. This team does not concede much, and it’s a striking team. They’re unbeatable. They improve every minute. We can develop our football in different ways," said Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente.

England are the other side projected to make it to at least the semi-finals.
