Alan Shearer notes what he's seen from Liverpool players that should worry Arne Slot

Alan Shearer believes that the number of Liverpool players who liked Mohamed Salah's controversial Instagram post over the weekend is worrying for Arne Slot.

Salah took to social media after Friday's 4-2 defeat by Aston Villa to question the team's style of play and call for the return of the "heavy metal" soccer that Jurgen Klopp successfully implemented during his nine years at Anfield.

In full, Salah's statement said: "I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that.

"Us crumbling to yet another defeat this season was very painful and not what our fans deserve. I want to see Liverpool go back to being the heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and back to being a team that wins trophies.

"That is the football I know how to play and that is the identity that needs to be recovered and kept for good. It cannot be negotiable and everyone that joins this club should adapt to it.

"Winning some games here and there is not what Liverpool should be about. All teams win games.

"Liverpool will always be a club that means a great deal to me and to my family. I want to see it succeed for long after I have moved on.

"As I’ve always said, qualifying to next season’s Champions League is the bare minimum and I will do everything I can to make that happen."

A host of Salah's Liverpool teammates reacted to the post by liking it, including Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Andy Robertson.

Some people have perceived the players liking the post as them agreeing with it, and Shearer believes it's a concern.

"The worrying thing is that how many other players in the squad liked his post, you know, so clearly, it's not a happy dressing room," Shearer told Betfair.

"Mo Salah is leaving. I mean, in the context of two of the greatest in Dalglish and Gerrard that have played for Liverpool, he's put himself right in the conversation alongside them, but I don't think he's gone past those two.

"I don't like what he's done this season in terms of calling the manager out a couple of times. I get that they don't get on.

"I had a similar situation with Ruud Gullit at Newcastle and I know how tough that can be but the club's always the most important thing

"It's been a difficult spell for Liverpool after what happened last season because we all thought at the beginning of the season that they were going to go on and dominate and they didn’t.

"They've been awful. But Mo Salah hasn't exactly been great himself this season, has he?"
