Report: Ireland Striker Close To Agreeing Shock Exit From Celtic

While Celtic have been the subject of a huge amount of criticism on the back of their Champions League exit at the hands of FC Kairat on Wednesday, Ireland striker Adam Idah has been a particular focus for many of the club's supporters.

The Cork man has experienced a difficult start to the season, struggling in each of his four appearances up to this point. Idah was given a harsh reality check by Brendan Rodgers after being substituted at halftime in the first leg against the Kazakhstani side, before going on to miss a penalty in the shootout in the second game.

The fee paid by Celtic to sign the Irishman has made a him a magnet for criticism among the clubs fans, with some believing that he has yet to justify the record deal to bring him to Parkhead.

In saying that, it was expected that the Ireland star would remain in Glasgow for the next season. That now seems to be in doubt.

Ireland Striker Close To Agreeing Shock Exit From Celtic

Football Insider are reporting that Swansea City are close to agreeing a deal to sign Adam Idah from Celtic on a permanent basis, with a 'multi-million pound fee' in the offing.

The Championship club are said to be keen to add a striker to their squad before the end of the transfer window, with Idah the prime target. The Welsh club are currently coached by Athlone native Alan Sheehan, who has had a solid start to his management career at the club after being appointed on a permanent basis earlier this year.

Idah has plenty of experience in the Championship, having spent a few seasons in the division with Norwich City. It remains to be seen how keen he would be to join Swansea, although he may find himself down the pecking order at his current club.

It has been suggested that Celtic are hoping to sign Lorient striker Sambou Soumano over the coming days.

It would certainly be disappointing for Idah's time at Celtic to end in this manner, with the player having become a fan favourite during his initial loan spell at the club in the 2023/24 campaign.

However, a clean break may now be the best outcome for all involved.
