A remarkable, record-breaking summer window slammed shut last night as the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all finalised their squads for the next few months. For the Gunners, the dream of Julian Alvarez never materialised, as Deadline Day saw outgoings and no incomings, despite being offered Malick Fofana, who went to Sunderland. Gabriel Martinelli’s move to Saudi Arabia is still to be confirmed.

It was a far busier, and more dramatic, day at Chelsea, who sold Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for a British-record-equalling £125million. A fee was agreed to make Lamine Camara his replacement, but Monaco pulled the plug to leave the Blues furious. Florian Balogun’s move to Everton from Monaco also collapsed, despite the Ligue 1 side needing money.

Tottenham saw Iliman Ndiaye move to Man City, but snapped up Chelsea pair Mykhailo Mudryk, on loan, and Tosin Adarabioyo, for £12m. Liverpool the day earlier signed Bradley Barcola for £123m and felt their business was done. It was a very busy day at Crystal Palace, despite missing out on Fofana. Why didn't Man Utd sign Ait-Nouri?

Manchester United declined the opportunity to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri from Manchester City on Deadline Day.

The Algerian full-back, 25, joined City in 2025 but has struggled to impress himself on the first team, and appears to be in search of improved first-team minutes after he was knocked down the pecking order by the emergence of Nico O’Reilly. He has been left on the bench in City’s first two matches of the Premier League season.

At surface level, it seemed a move might suit all parties, but it broke down due to City’s conditions of sale.

Standard Sport understands United contacted City to discuss a move on Tuesday afternoon and enquired after a potential loan.

City, however, were only interested in letting Ait-Nouri leave on loan with an obligation to buy. United sources say there was no interest in a permanent move and walked away.

Fulham confirm triple Deadline Day deal

Fulham have confirmed the Deadline Day signings of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson, Real Madrid’s Manuel Angel, and Elche’s David Affengruber.

After tasting defeat in both of his first two Premier League outings, Arbeloa has once again gone shopping at Valdebebas, this time coming back with 22-year-old midfielder Angel.

The Spaniard has signed a three-year deal with an option for a further 12 months. Arbeloa named him captain of his Real Madrid Castilla side, and later handed him his first-team debut after both men were promoted mid-season.

He joins as one half of a midfield overhaul, with 12-cap Sweden international Larsson completing the new arrivals.

Standard Sport understands he has joined up on an initial one-year loan, which will be made permanent for £18.3m. The club have confirmed he will sign a long-term deal.

The 25-year-old centre-back Affengruber, meanwhile, has touched down in west London and signed a four-year contract with a club option for a further 12 months. Fulham spent £8.5m to secure his services.

Crystal Palace sign another

That should be that from Crystal Palace.

A statement reads: “Crystal Palace are delighted to announce the signing of Dario Osorio from Danish side FC Midtjylland on a season-long loan, with an option to buy.”

Man Utd talks fall through

Manchester United moved to sign Leicester’s Louis Page on Deadline Day, but talks fell through as they failed to agree a fee with the Foxes.

Per reports in The Athletic, the 18-year-old could have cost United as much as £15m, but they could not find common ground with Leicester.

It ended up being a quiet Deadline Day for United, who added no fresh faces to Michael Carrick’s squad.

Alvarez stays amid Arsenal links

The summer transfer window has closed and Julian Alvarez has stayed put at Atletico Madrid, dealing Arsenal a blow.

It was always a long shot for the Gunners to complete a deal as the Argentina international had his heart set on a move to Barcelona.

But even with Atletico’s stance of not doing business with their LaLiga rivals, the door never opened for Arsenal.

Alvarez is now left at Atletico, in what is seemingly a quite tense atmosphere if the recent fan reaction is anything to go by.

Why Chelsea cannot revive Camara deal

Chelsea cannot revive the Lamine Camara deal, writes Dom Smith.

News that Folarin Balogun has walked away from his move to Everton at the last minute had reignited faith for some Chelsea fans that the Camara deal could be resurrected because Monaco are under pressure to sell.

They had walked away from a written email agreement to sell Camara to Chelsea for £47m once the Balogun deal looked set to go through.

But even though Balogun has walked away, Chelsea will not be getting their man this summer because Monaco refused to sign a Premier League deal sheet.

It is over for Chelsea's summer pursuit of Camara.

Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Netherlands international Quinten Timber, brother of Arsenal's Jurrien.

After all of that, Folarin Balogun will not be joining Everton.

As per The Athletic, the USMNT international decided not to proceed with a switch to the Toffees.
