With the Indian women’s cricket team scripting history by clinching their first-ever ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title with a 52-run victory over South Africa, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) paid a glowing tribute to the Women in Blue. The iconic Eden Gardens was adorned with a magnificent, illuminative display bathed in hues of blue, proudly proclaiming: “Congratulations Team India for glorious victory of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.”

Bathed in radiant blue light that mirrored the team’s indomitable spirit and ethos, the façade of the historic stadium showcased a striking visual montage celebrating the women who brought home this momentous triumph. The display stood as a symbol of inspiration for millions of aspiring cricketers across the nation.

Through this spectacular tribute, the CAB reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to promoting women’s cricket alongside the men’s game. The gesture reflects the association’s ongoing dedication to recognising the achievements of India’s women cricketers and to supporting the continued growth of women’s cricket in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, former Indian cricketer and president of CAB, Sourav Ganguly, said, “As the home of cricket in Bengal, we wanted to celebrate their success and express our heartfelt congratulations through this special tribute. Twenty years ago, when women’s cricket struggled due to lack of infrastructure, not many were confident about its future. Kudos to all the women who fought hard to take the game to the next level. When I became the BCCI President, I was thrilled to work towards the upliftment of women’s cricket and did my best to strengthen its foundation. Winning the 50-over World Cup is just the beginning - women’s cricket will go even bigger from here.”
