ICC team in Karachi to inspect National Stadium for Champions Trophy

A delegation of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has arrived in Karachi, as part of their visit to Pakistan.

The team will visit the National Stadium and review the arrangements for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

The delegation will conduct a detailed inspection of the ongoing construction work and will also examine various sections of the under-construction five-storey building.

The opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy is scheduled for February 19 at the National Stadium Karachi, with the first match to be played on the same day between Pakistan and New Zealand.

The stadium will host three matches of the tournament.

Before the Champions Trophy, two matches of the Tri-Nation One Day International Series are set to take place. On February 12, Pakistan will play against South Africa, followed by the final on February 14.

It is noteworthy that the first visit under the ICC’s oversight was conducted by Security Head David Massker.

During this second visit, Senior Manager of Event Operations Sarah Edgar and Manager Aun Zaidi reviewed the arrangements, while the third visit involved Manager Aun Zaidi and Broadcasting Supervisor Mansoor Manj.

The countdown for the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has begun, with the deadline for submitting preliminary squads set for January 12.

Teams are advised to finalise their initial squads by midnight on February 11, as the official tournament period kicks off on February 12.

The prestigious Champions Trophy will commence on February 19 in Karachi, marking the beginning of a thrilling month-long cricketing spectacle.

The eight participating teams have the opportunity to make changes to their preliminary squads without ICC approval until February 11.
