Glamorgan have completed the signing of Seren Smale from Lancashire.

The Wrexham-born wicketkeeper/batter joins the Welsh side as they prepare for Tier One status in 2027.

"Being Welsh and being able to represent Glamorgan professionally brings me so much excitement," Smale said.

"It's where I started my cricket journey and I can't wait to see what this next chapter brings."

Smale, 21, has played two T20 internationals for England and previously represented the nation's Under-19s at the 2022 ICC Women's U19 T20 World Cup.

Smale started her cricketing journey at Buckley Cricket Club and went on to feature regularly for the Thunder between 2021 and 2024.

Glamorgan's head of women and girls cricket Aimee Rees said: "We're absolutely delighted to have Seren join Glamorgan for the next three years. She is incredibly proud to be Welsh, and she was someone we identified early as a key target for our recruitment strategy."

Smale will join her new side for their pre‑season preparations later this year ahead of the 2027 campaign.

Rees added: "She brings real quality and valuable experience to our squad, with experience in The Hundred and at international level.

"We know she will make a big impact, and we're excited to see her continue to develop and perform on the biggest stages in a Glamorgan shirt."

The arrival of Smale comes after batter Bethan Gammon joined Glamorgan women's professional ranks.

The 25-year-old from Pontypridd signed a contract with the Welsh side along with all-rounder Bethan Ellis and batter/wicketkeeper Abbey Freeborn, who have been on loan from Warwickshire over the last two seasons.

They join captain Lauren Parfitt as Glamorgan's first full-time female players.
