West Ham are staring at the prospect of losing their place in the Premier League and the club’s current stars will see their bank balances hit should the Londoners slip into the second tierWest Ham players are facing a 50 percent wage cut should the club suffer relegation from the Premier League. The Londoners have endured a woeful campaign this season. They sit 18th and seven points from safety ahead of this weekend’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur. Boss Nuno Espirito Santo is already under huge pressure, having only replaced Graham Potter earlier this season. And while the Portuguese’s job is in jeopardy, it appears that the Hammers dressing room could feel the consequences of the club slipping into the Championship. According to The Athletic, players have a clause written into their contracts that would see their wage packets sliced in half in the case of demotion. It is a stipulation that the Hammers have always stuck by but it has taken on far more relevance this season, with the club having won just three league games. It is suggested that the clauses have made it difficult for West Ham to sign their January targets. They have already signed two new faces - strikers Tony Castellanos and Pablo having been recruited from Lazio and Gil Vicente respectively. Captain Jarrod Bowen has already issued a rallying cry to his West Ham teammates.READ MORE : FA Cup fourth-round draw in FULL as Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea learn fateREAD MORE : West Ham face Lucas Paqueta transfer dilemma after Brazil star asked not to playSpeaking ahead of the weekend’s FA Cup victory vs Queens Park Rangers, he said: “If we give up, then there's no chance in the world and that's got to be the mindset. I know it hasn't been good enough, nowhere near good enough this season, and we're in the position that we're in that shows that.“It's been a collective of different things. I don't think it's the effort, I don't think it's the work, I think we're a team that works hard and wants to do well, but ultimately I don't think we've been in the best form individually and as a team and we've been punished for that.“We're seven points adrift going into the second half of the season and we know the situation at stake, we know what we have to do and we have to do it, we have to continue being a team that fights for every single minute that we're on the pitch. We have to keep fighting and we have to keep going out there to win games, that's the only way it's going to change. Will West Ham be relegated this season? It's down to me and it’s down to us as players to do that.”
