NFL news, injury updates: Tom Brady's work with Fox and Raiders is drawing attention, while Khalil Mack injury news awaits

Monday Night Football closed Week 2 with no shortage of buzz, chief of which is Tom Brady's role as lead color analyst for Fox's NFL coverage ... and also his very hands-on role with the Las Vegas Raiders franchise.

Brady spent at least some of Monday night in the Raiders' coaches' box, and ESPN's broadcast reported that he consults with offensive coordinator Chip Kelly "2-3 times" a week. Head coach Pete Carroll denied that reporting after the game, though he did say he and Kelly talk to Brady "about life and football" and that he has "great insight."

On Tuesday morning, Fox Sports' No. 2 color analyst Greg Olsen said "more power to" Brady for doing what he's doing, per Front Office Sports. Perhaps more telling? FOS asked Eric Shanks if he sympathizes with fans who believe what Brady's doing is a conflict of interest. "I'm not going to answer that one," Shanks said. "Good question, but not gonna answer that."

League reaction to Brady's role will no doubt continue. In the meantime, the team that beat the Raiders Monday night is awaiting injury news.

Pass rusher Khalil Mack left the 20-9 victory with an elbow injury, and was later seen wearing a sling. Head coach Jim Harbaugh said Mack would have imaging done Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury.

One of the big storylines to emerge Monday was the spate of quarterback injuries. No less than five — the Bengals' Joe Burrow, the Vikings' J.J. McCarthy, the Commanders' Jayden Daniels, the 49ers' Brock Purdy and the Jets' Justin Fields — will either miss Week 3 or are in danger of doing so.

The Bengals are bringing in a pair of veteran QBs behind backup Jake Browning, who's now thrust into the starter's role. Cincinnati is signing Mike White and Sean Clifford to its practice squad, per ESPN.
