Liverpool took another step towards the Premier League title with an 89th minute winner from Virgil van Dijk against West Ham last weekend – and rewarded the Dutch centre-half with a lovely new £400k-per-week contract! Not a bad day’s work, eh Virg? They go to a doomed Leicester City this Sunday where three points can only be expected, says Peter Crouch, and we also got the big man’s lofty view on Ipswich v Arsenal and Fulham v Chelsea. And remember, Paddy’s Super Sub offer means your bet rolls on even if your player selection gets taken off early…Liverpool v Leicester Bet BuilderHandicap: Liverpool -1Diogo Jota to scoreLuis Diaz to have 1+ shots on targetMads Hermansen to make 3+ savesBoubakary Soumare to commit 1+ foulsA bet builder with these selections pays at approximately 6/1 with Paddy Power. It’s a lot of money for centre-half – usually it’s strikers getting paid the most – but there’s so much more to Van Dijk. He’s not just a great defender, he’s a brilliant passer of the ball and he’s a real leader. The West Ham game encapsulated that. He makes a mistake and thinks “I’m not having this” and goes and wins the game. It’s the kind of thing Steven Gerrard used to do – grab the game by the scruff of the neck and take control. He organises people too and is a great role model to have around the club so he’s the type of captain you want leading your club. Also, they’ve given him and Mo Salah big contracts for the next few years because you can’t sign players like them without spending £300million!And they can definitely win more trophies with these two players over the coming seasons. They’re going to Leicester this Sunday and could possibly win the league this week if Arsenal lose.Leicester have been absolutely miles off it most of the season. The manager’s struggled to get a tune out of them and whenever you see them play they look devoid of ideas. And one of the problems for Leicester, as well as the other promoted sides now, is that it’s not just the top sides in the Premier League that are way ahead, it’s that those in the middle too. Forest, Brighton, Brentford, Palace, Newcastle – so many of these sides are so good that you just can’t see them going down. And I know a lot of Leicester fans weren’t happy with the Steve Cooper appointment last summer, but I think he was getting more out of them than we’ve seen since he left.Handicap: Liverpool -1Their home record’s been abysmal, it’s never going to keep you up if you can’t win at your own ground. And I can’t see them getting anything out of Liverpool on Sunday. I’ve gone big with my prediction, I could see a 3-0 win for Liverpool and will go for Liverpool -1 in this week’s Bet Builder.4/7 Liverpool Alternative Handicaps 1 (-1) Bet HereDiogo Jota to scoreLuis Diaz to have 1+ shots on targetMo Salah’s not been quite as blistering in the goal scoring stakes as he has been earlier in the season but he’s still looking like he’ll set records.I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets more on Sunday, but I’ll go for Luis Diaz to have a shot on target after his recent goals and Diogo Jota to score as he’s due one.6/5 Diogo Jota Anytime Goalscorer Bet Here3/10 Luis Diaz Player To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target Bet HereMads Hermansen to make 3+ savesIt all points to a busy day for Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen and three saves is probably the least you would expect against Liverpool’s attack for him.1/5 Leicester Goalkeeper Goalkeeper To Make 3 Or More Saves Bet HereBoubakary Soumare to commit 1+ foulsBoubakary Soumare in Leicester’s midfield has a few cards to his name this season and one foul committed makes sense in this Bet Builder.4/9 Boubakary Soumare Player To Commit 1 Or More Fouls Bet HerePeter Crouch’s Bet BuilderHandicap: Liverpool -1Diogo Jota to scoreLuis Diaz to have 1+ shots on targetMads Hermansen to make 3+ savesBoubakary Soumare to commit 1+ foulsA bet builder with these selections pays at approximately 6/1 with Paddy Power. They were different class. Not just the results but the performances were excellent. The two wingers in particular were brilliant – Bukayo Saka is quite obviously world class now.Of course, you might think the big exploits in Europe could distract from the Premier League this weekend and going away to Ipswich, but I still fancy Arsenal to keep their focus and get over the line.I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s tight though. I could see it finishing 2-1 to Arsenal, and I like Liam Delap for a goal.I played with his dad, which makes me feel just slightly old now, but he is a top player and has a big future ahead of him. He was rested last week, but I assume he’ll be back in on Sunday and seems a good shout for a goal.7/1 1-2 Correct Score Bet Here16/5 Liam Delap Anytime Goalscorer Bet Here* All prices are bang up to date with our snazzy widgets, while odds in copy are accurate at time of publishing but subject to change.Read More
