Raúl Fernández, Enzo Fernández's father, wanted to put an end to the conspiracy theories that have emerged in Argentina after La Albiceleste's defeat against Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.

The midfielder's father, who was sent off after a harsh challenge on Pau Cubarsí, stated that his son denied any kind of alleged arrangement in the match.

Speculation exploded on social media after the final, especially because of Enzo's sending-off and various theories pointing to alleged external pressure on the Argentina national team. However, Raúl Fernández was emphatic in denying those versions.

The father of the Argentine international explained that the conversation with the player was clear and that at no point did he receive any indication supporting the versions that have circulated in recent days. On the contrary, he conveyed the footballer’s own view, which attributes the defeat exclusively to sporting reasons.

"Despite the impact of that play, Raúl Fernández insisted that there is nothing beyond what happened on the pitch. "I have to believe him and think that it was just a bad day football-wise," he said.
