David Moyes says everybody he called about Jack Grealish said the same thing before Everton signed the Man City star

Everybody said the same thing about Jack Grealish when Everton manager David Moyes called to enquire about the Manchester City star.

There was a lot of talk around the future of the winger this summer after Pep Guardiola left Grealish out of his squad for the FIFA Club World Cup, which made it clear to the Englishman that he was not part of the plans at City anymore.

This came off the back of a tough 2024/25 season for the 29-year-old, a campaign in which Grealish barely played for Man City; therefore, the England star knew he had to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer if he was to have any hope of going to the 2026 World Cup.

Everton showed the strongest interest in the winger, and with Grealish having completed a loan move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Moyes has now revealed what everyone told him about the Man City star when he called about the Englishman.

Aston Villa and Man City spoke highly of Jack Grealish

Grealish has been a fan favourite wherever he has been, and that proved true when Moyes started to ring around to enquire about the winger as a person.

Speaking to Sky Sports One on One, the Everton manager has revealed that everybody he spoke to about the 29-year-old had nothing but good words to say about the Man City loanee.

“Well, I can only tell you what I’ve seen and what I’ve found of him at the moment. And look, everybody who speaks about him loves Jack,” Moyes said.

“Everybody at the football clubs, I spoke to people at Aston Villa, I spoke to people at Man City, and they all speak so highly of Jack as a boy and what he does and his time for everybody.

“And then the football part comes into it as well. So, you know, I spoke to a lot of people who know him, people who played with him, watched him a lot myself. So I’ve been really impressed by him generally.”

Don Hutchison stated at the start of June that Moyes would be the perfect manager to help Grealish get back to his best, and two games into his Everton career, the winger already looks a different player.

Moyes has plenty of experience in the Premier League and dealing with big stars, and therefore, the Scottish coach was always going to be perfect for Grealish, as he will put an arm around the winger and cater to his needs.

This showed against Brighton on Saturday, as Everton’s players always looked to see where Grealish was, which resulted in a 2-0 win for the Toffees and two assists for the Man City loanee.

Sam Allardyce can see nothing but success for Grealish at Everton, as the former boss of the Merseyside club knows what Moyes is capable of bringing out of his stars.

The 2025/26 campaign looks set to be a promising one for Grealish, and everyone will have a smile on their faces if the 29-year-old can get back to his best and travel with England to the World Cup next summer.
