It's that time of the year again - the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it's sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.

Here are today's latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team...

Nicolas Jackson interested in Aston Villa move

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is interested in his potential switch to Aston Villa to work with his former head coach Unai Emery again.

Jackson's name came up during conversations between Chelsea and Villa centred on Morgan Rogers, who is set to move to Stamford Bridge for a club-record £117million and sign a six-year deal with the option of an extra year.

Villa have long been admirers of Jackson under Emery, who had the striker at Villarreal. Chelsea have been taking their time to decide on the 25-year-old Senegal international's future.

With Jackson, Liam Delap, Emmanuel Emegha, Marc Guiu and Joao Pedro as Xabi Alonso's striker options currently, there is an acceptance inside of Chelsea that they need to reduce their numbers, especially while facing a season out of Europe.

Joao Pedro is considered untouchable and so not for sale. Delap is keen to have another season to prove himself after a disappointing campaign following his move from Ipswich, while Emegha has only just arrived this summer from their sister side Strasbourg. Guiu is expected to leave either permanently or on loan.

There remains a market for Jackson, who spent the last season on loan at Bayern Munich. Chelsea are believed to value him at £65m.

That is down on the £80m they were understood to be seeking last summer before sanctioning his temporary switch to Bayern. That came at a time when the relationship between Jackson and then-manager Enzo Maresca had broken down.

Chelsea's plan for Jackson was to have him return in pre-season so that Xabi Alonso could take a closer look at the scorer. Alonso said at his unveiling last week that Jackson was due to join them on their tour of Australia and Asia after his post-World Cup break.

However, sources close to Jackson have told Daily Mail Sport that they are seriously considering Villa as an option after his name was discussed during talks about Rogers. Alejandro Garnacho has also been linked with Villa, but the Argentinian is said to be prioritising a move to Italy.

West Ham mulling over Roma's Summerville bid

Roma are awaiting a reply from West Ham on their latest efforts to sign winger Crysencio Summerville.

As reported yesterday, Roma's latest bid of £39million plus add ons is a marginal increase and restructure on their second bid which was rejected.

Aston Villa have also been monitoring developments on the 24-year-old.

West Ham have enquired about Cardiff defender Dylan Lawlor.

Ipswich seal deal for new goalkeeper

Ipswich have completed the signing of goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen from Volendam.

The fee is £4.25m with an initial £3.4m followed by £850,000 in add-ons.

The 22-year-old, who is seen as one for the future, has signed until 2031.

Ipswich have had a bid rejected for another goalkeeper, Kjell Scherpen from Union Saint-Gilloise.

As reported on Window Watch yesterday, Ipswich are close to sealing a £20m deal for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu with a further £3m in add-ons.

They are discussing an £8.5m deal for Fulham's Issa Diop and are negotiating with Celtic for versatile forward Daizen Maeda and free agent midfielder Hidemasa Morita who is leaving Sporting Lisbon and had been close to joining Leeds United.

QPR snap up Lamptey

Former Chelsea and Brighton full-back Tariq Lamptey has joined QPR on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old has signed on a free transfer after leaving Serie A side Fiorentina.

Lamptey said: 'I like to get up and down, a lot of energy, a lot of fun. Hopefully I'll keep the fans on the edge of their seats.

'I'm tough tackling, I love one-v-ones, defensive and attacking, I just love playing the game.'

Lamptey's Fiorentina contract was terminated by mutual consent in May after the full-back ruptured his cruciate just three weeks after joining the Italian side from Brighton.

Fiorentina paid £6m for the Ghanaian.

Sheffield United weigh up Matondo move

Sheffield United are continuing to evaluate winger Rabbi Matondo who has impressed during their training camp in Valencia.

The Wales international, who is free to leave SK Brann, is due to play in a behind closed doors friendly against Huddersfield Town today.

Matondo figured in the Blades friendly against Levante last week and Chris Wilder is expected to make a decision this week with the likes of Derby County and Middlesbrough also showing interest.

Sheffield Wednesday close in on TENTH summer signing

Aston Villa forward Tommi O'Reilly is poised to become Sheffield Wednesday's 10th summer signing.

The 22-year-old, who impressed on loan at Crewe in League Two last season, is due to sign on loan again at Wednesday.

The Owls' young goalkeeper Logan Stretch, 19, has been loaned out to National League North side Buxton, who are managed by former Wednesday youth coach Jordan Broadbent.

Man City teenager joins Northampton

Manchester City striker Matty Warhurst has joined Northampton Town.

The prolific 19-year-old was keen to leave for first team football and had interest from a host of clubs in League One and League Two including Stockport County, Cambridge United, Leyton Orient and Swindon Town.

Warhurst, who turns 20 in September, has scored 61 goals in 97 games for various City sides in the last few seasons, including 36 goals in 41 games for the under-18s before adding 13 goals in 18 Premier League 2 appearances and eight goals in 11 FA Youth Cup games.

Alex Scott turns down new Bournemouth deal

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has turned down a new contract.

Scott has two years remaining on his current deal and was offered fresh terms by the Cherries in March this year.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all hold an interest in the 22-year-old, but Bournemouth's stance is that he is not for sale this summer - regardless of his contract situation.

Daily Mail Sport understands Bournemouth have not put a price or valuation on the Under-21 European Championship winner as they do not consider him for sale.

Just last week, new Cherries boss Marco Rose told the media he was confident that in-demand Scott and Junior Kroupi would remain on the South Coast for their Europa League campaign.

Bournemouth's policy this summer is to keep hold of their best players for Europe - including Scott, Kroupi and winger Rayan - but it remains to be seen if substantial offers would test their resolve.

Scott played 39 times for Bournemouth last season and was key to securing European football for the first time in the club's history.

Thomas Tuchel awarded Scott his first international call-up last November, although he did not earn a cap.

The midfielder also travelled to the United States with the Three Lions before the World Cup to take part in their tournament preparation camp.

Even if Bournemouth could be persuaded to do business over Scott, it's understood that United would have to sell players to afford the £80m it would be likely to cost to prise him away from the Vitality Stadium.

The club want to sell top-earner Marcus Rashford following his loan spells at Barcelona and Aston Villa, and would listen to offers for Joshua Zirkzee. Manuel Ugarte would also have been available, but the Uruguay midfielder sustained a serious knee injury at the World Cup and will spend much of next season recuperating at Carrington.

As it stands, United will struggle to sign Scott and Roma midfielder Manu Kone appears to be a more realistic option after United held talks with the Frenchman's camp.
