Darts sensation Luke Littler has shocked everyone after confirming that he will be taking a step back from darts just days before competing for the Hungarian Darts Trophy.

In just two days, 18-year-old darts superstar Littler will step out for his opening match of the 2025 Hungarian Darts Trophy against either fellow Englishman Joe Cullen or Germany’s Lukas Wenig.

Since his breakout performance at the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship in December 2023, Littler has gone on to become one of the most notable names in the history of darts, culminating in him winning the World Championship earlier this year.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Littler is the current favourite to win the Hungarian Darts Trophy in the coming days for the first time in his career.

However, just days before his opening match, the darts star has released a shocking statement confirming that he will now be taking some time away from the oche to focus on other things.

Just 12 months ago, Littler surprised fans ahead of last year's Hungarian Darts Trophy competition as he confirmed that he would

And while he is still expected to compete in Budapest this year, Littler has cast some doubt over the future of his darts career in a shocking statement on social media.

In a video posted to his social media accounts, Littler confirmed: "I've had an awesome career, couldn't ask for much better for myself. It's been full on for two years, I've done many great things, the Premier League at the age of 17 on debut.

"It'll shock some people that I'm taking a step back. It's not been an easy decision, now I want to focus and do something that I really really love."

However, fans were quick to notice that just seconds before the clip ends, Littler can be heard quietly speaking once again, asking: "Do you think they'll fall for that?"

In fact, some have gone a step further and suggested that Littler's announcement could be linked to the launch of the highly anticipated launch of EA Sports FC 26 on Friday morning.

While many fans will have to wait until the 26th September to play the latest instalment of the popular football video game, those that purchase the Ultimate Edition will be given seven days early access, allowing to play the game from midnight on the 19th.

Throughout his time in the spotlight, Littler has been outspoken about his love of the EA Sports FC series, regularly taking part in a Pro Clubs team alongside streamer Angry Ginge and Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney,

Therefore, it is likely that him deciding to take time off to focus on something that he loves is just a clever way of saying that he is excited to spend his free time playing the new game once it releases on Friday,
