Rasmus Hojlund endured a mixed season in front of goal during his debut season with Manchester United following a move from Atlanta and even dealt some damage to a teammate

Rasmus Hojlund knocked out part of his teammate’s TOOTH in a less than friendly training session.

The Manchester United striker was part of training with the Denmark national team this summer ahead of the Euros. And while there, he took part in some set piece training.

But unfortunately, Denmark teammate and Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen came off worse for wear after an aerial battle with Hojlund. Speaking on The Fozcast with Ben Foster, the stopper revealed: “You know as a goalkeeper sometimes when you have set piece practice. It’s like ‘are we going 100 per cent? Are we just a bit easy?’

“So we were with the national team just before the Euros it was optional training, you could come in and train if you want. So let’s do some corners.

“I go: ‘Keepers!’ And he [Hojlund] just comes in with everything, elbow straight to my tooth. I took a corner off when I was younger as well so it was just the same bit of plastic.”

Hojlund’s aggression did not go down particularly well with ex-United goalkeeper Foster, who gave his view. He replied: “Cheers Rasmus, appreciate that. That’s rubbish that. I’m not having that, it’s poor. When you’re doing it in a bit of practice set piece thing, you’ve got to take it easy. You can’t go full blooded like that.”

But Hermansen claimed that it was not an issue, and does not believe that his international colleague needs to rein it in. The Leicester star added: “But he is that kind of guy and I love that about him. He’s giving everything, always. He’s just got an exceptional way of being a professional.”

Denmark reached the last-16 of Euro 2024 following the incident between the two Premier League stars. They progressed in second place in Group C behind England.

Hojlund’s side fell to Germany in the knockout stages - Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala netting for the host nation. The United striker has endured a stuttering start to the campaign following his international commitments.

The 21-year-old missed the opening weeks of the season through injury but has returned over recent weeks. He scored his first goal of the season in the dramatic Europa League draw with Porto.

Hojlund will be reunited with Denmark teammate Hermansen on a number of occasions over the coming weeks. United twice host Leicester at Old Trafford both in the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
