Alexandra “Alex” Eala and her doubles partner Nadiia Kichenok fell short against the duo of Indonesia’s Janice Tjen and Poland’s Katarzyna Piter, 7-6(4), 3-6, 5-10, in the Guangzhou Open doubles semifinals in China on Saturday.The loss marks the end of Eala’s campaign in Guangzhou, following her first-round exit against Claire Liu in the singles Round of 32.Before bowing out, Eala and Kichenok notched wins over Britain’s Emily Appleton and China’s Qianhui Tang in the Round of 16, and Russia’s Polina Kudermetova and Kamilla Rakhimova in the quarterfinals.Eala is expected to compete next at the Hong Kong Tennis Open next week.
