Rashford was joined by Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia in signalling their intention to depart Ruben Amorim's side.Rashford has been stripped of his number 10 squad number as a result of the decision and summer signing Matheus Cunha will wear the famous digits, following his £62.5million switch from Wolves. This week, it was confirmed by Aston Villa that the 27-year-old will not see his buyout clause triggered after spending the second half of last season on loan in the west Midlands.The United academy graduate looks set to leave Old Trafford this summer, with links to European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich.Amorim's side are understood to have priced the England international at around £40million.Less than 24 hours after the news broke, the attacker made noticeable changes to his social media platforms across Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).In one post to X, he posted about the change of display picture, which shows him going through his paces before returning for the forthcoming season.Article continues belowContent cannot be displayed without consentThe picture is one that he posted one week ago, working up a sweat, in a post to Instagram which read: "Putting in the work with family and friends before the serious stuff starts back up."In light of the quintet expressing their desire to leave the club, their return date for pre-season has been delayed until later in July to allow them to explore options away from the Theatre of Dreams.Speaking after Rashford made the switch to Aston Villa, the United head coach said that he had to leave because he could not get the England international to buy into his ideas."What I say is I couldn't put Marcus to see the way you're supposed to play football and to train the way I see it," he said in February."And sometimes you have one player who is really good with one coach and the same player with another coach is different."I just wish the best to Rashford and Unai Emery, and they can connect because he's a very good player."The likes of Harry Maguire, Rasmus Hojlund and co. will mark their return to Carrington next week ahead of the beginning of the preparations for the new Premier League campaign.United's new number 10 will be among them when they begin their pre-season schedule which will see them jet off to the United States for the Premier League's Summer Series against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton.Article continues belowThere will be time for one more friendly at Old Trafford against Serie A side Fiorentina, just eight days before their top-flight curtain-raiser against Arsenal at home.
