How Lou Holtz Helped Chris Zorich Overcome Speech Impediment at Notre Dame

College Football Hall of Fame inductee Chris Zorich tells Irish Illustrated how coach Lou Holtz helped him overcome a lifelong speech impediment while the defensive tackle was a freshman at Notre Dame.

Zorich helped Notre Dame win the 1988 national championship before becoming a consensus and unanimous All-American defensive tackle for the Fighting Irish.

Later, he played for the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins in the NFL.

On March 4, Holtz passed away at the age of 89. From 1986 to 1996, he led the Fighting Irish to a 100–30–2 record, including a national championship in 1988.
