Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Coco Gauff Headline U.S. Open Entry Field

Reigning U.S. Open champion Carlos Alcaraz, who has not played competitive tennis since April due to a wrist injury, and Novak Djokovic, who is still bidding for a record 25th Grand Slam singles title, headline the U.S. Open Entry List released Tuesday.

Alcaraz, a seven-time Grand Slam champion and two-time U.S. Open winner, will return to the ATP Tour at the Cincinnati Open next month and is reportedly 100% healed from his wrist injury.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, the two-time Wimbledon champion, and French Open winner Alexander Zverev, the world No. 2, are also in the men’s draw.

On the women’s side, two-time U.S. Open champion Aryna Sabalenka (2024 and 2025) is aiming to become the first woman to win three consecutive U.S. Open singles titles since Serena Williams (2012-2014). Williams, 44, is not on the Entry List but could still receive a wild card next month.

World No. 2 Elena Rybakina, the reigning Australian Open champion, No. 3 Jessica Pegula, the 2024 U.S. Open finalist, and No. 4 Coco Gauff, the 2023 champion, are also in the women’s field.

The field includes 17 total former Grand Slam singles champions (11 women, six men), including 10 former U.S. Open champions.

The United States leads all nations with 28 players (14 women and 14 men) earning direct entry into the main draw.

The American women are led by Pegula, Gauff, and No. 9 Amanda Anisimova, while the American men in the field include Top-10 players Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz.

Eight total players (five women, three men) are using special or protected rankings, including Lois Boisson (No. 38), Juncheng Shang (No. 56), Irina-Camelia Begu (No. 82) and Thanasi Kokkinakis (No. 84).

Both the men's and women's entries were based on the July 20 rankings. The women's cutoff was No. 102, while the men's cutoff was No. 101.

The 2026 US Open runs Sunday, August 23-Sunday, September 13. The Singles Main Draws begin on Sunday, Aug. 30.
