He needs 52 runs to become the first player to achieve a massive feat.

England are all set to take on Sri Lanka in the third Test of the three-match series at the Oval Cricket Ground in London. All eyes will be on Joe Root during this match, especially after his historic performance in the second Test of the series, where he scored two centuries in two innings. He is now on the cusp of history, as he is set to become the first player ever to achieve a remarkable feat in the history of the World Test Championship ( WTC ).

Joe Root has scored 4948 runs in the history of the WTC and is thus the all-time leading run scorer in the competition. If he manages to score 52 runs in the third Test vs Sri Lanka, he will become the first player in history to score 5000 runs in the WTC.
