Linda Pizzuti, wife of Liverpool principal owner John W. Henry, has sent a thank you message to rivals Arsenal for observing their guard of honour at Anfield. The newly-crowned champions walked out to applause from Mikel Arteta's side, who were the closest challengers for the Premier League title this season.

Liverpool had wrapped up their 20th English league title two weeks prior when last playing at Anfield against Tottenham Hotspur. The joyous scenes afterwards were enjoyed by owner Henry and Pizzuti on-field, interacting with Arne Slot, the players and supporters for well over an hour after the full-time whistle.

By winning the Premier League with matches to spare, first up it was Chelsea at Stamford Bridge who offered a guard of honour to the champions, as has become tradition in English football, and then Arsenal followed suit when they came to Anfield.

"Love the guard of honour, thank you Arsenal," Pizzuti wrote to Instagram story. She used the joint post from Liverpool and the Premier League that depicted Virgil van Dijk leading his Reds teammates out of the Main Stand tunnel between the two rows of Gunners stars.

She may not have spotted as Sky Sports cameras did that full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly did not applaud the Reds players but only stood and watched on.

Liverpool would go on to take a two-goal lead in the first half through Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.

Though Arsenal would fight back, clawing it back to 2-2 before having a man sent off and Andy Robertson saw an injury-time winner ruled out because of a foul from Ibrahima Konate in the build-up.

What truly stole the headlines was the reception towards Trent Alexander-Arnold in his first Anfield match since announcing he will depart the club at the end of the season.

The vice-captain was subjected to boos throughout the afternoon, most prominently when he was brought on as a 67th-minute substitute and three minutes later played Mikel Merino onside for his equaliser.

Before Alexander-Arnold's fate was confirmed, Henry was seen speaking to him on the Anfield pitch after the Spurs match, leaving many to wonder if there would be hope of a contract renewal.

Pizzuti also got involved, getting fans' hopes up with cryptic replies to comments on Instagram about the full-back.
