Tennis superstar Carlos Alcaraz takes on Alexander Zverev in the semifinals of the 2026 Australian Open on January 30. While Alcaraz has six Grand Slam titles to his name, he’s never won at Melbourne Park.

Ranked No. 1 in the world, Alcaraz is not sleeping on Zverev (No. 3), whom he’s 6-6 against in his career. “I just got a practice with him, which the level was really, really high,” the 22-year-old said, per Tennis.com. “It was a high level of tennis, high level of intensity.

“It’s going to be a great battle. I know that he’s serving pretty well. He’s playing really solid and aggressive when he can in the rallies from the baseline.”

Alcaraz took down Alex de Minaur 7-5,6-2,6-1 to advance to the semifinals, where he’s highly favored to defeat Zverev.

While the Spaniard dominates on the court, fans want to know about his personal life, in particular, whether or not he has a girlfriend. Alcaraz broke his silence on the subject during the ATP Finals in November, where he placed runner-up behind Jannik Sinner.

Former tennis player Elena Vesnina asked, “I have a question from a lot of girls around the world. Your heart has been taken?”

“No, I’m free. I’m free. I’m free,’ he replied.

Carlos Alcaraz Received a Marriage Proposal During the Forth Round

Alcaraz defeated American Tommy Paul in three straight sets in the fourth round. During the match, fans went crazy for Alcaraz.

Several spectators offered him marriage proposals. “Carlos marry my daughter,” one fan shouted while another person yelled, “Marry my sister in law. One man put herself out there and shouted, “Marry me!”

Fans on social media had strong reactions to the proposals on X. One person begged, “Let him focus please !!” Another person wrote, “Our man is just trying to stay warm and hit forehands and suddenly he’s got to choose between someone’s daughter, in-laws and a freaking direct applicant 😂.”

Carlos Alcaraz Says It’s ‘Difficult’ to Date While Playing Professional Tennis

Alcaraz was previously in a serious relationship with fellow Spanish tennis player Maria Gonzalez Gimenez. He spoke candidly about their breakup in a Vogue interview published in February 2023. At the time, Alcaraz noted they had split 18 months prior.

“It’s complicated, never staying in one place,” he noted. “It’s hard to find the person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world.”

For now, Alcaraz’s most serious relationship is with tennis and it’s going well. If Alcaraz wins another Grand Slam title in Melbourne, he’ll become just the sixth man in the Open Era to win all four major titles at least once. He’s the second-youngest player in the Open Era to reach 10 Grand Slam Finals.
