Man City XI vs Everton: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Premier League today

Manchester City are without Rodri for today’s Premier League clash with Everton, though Erling Haaland is ready to go while Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki are fit enough to be named on the bench.

Rodri limped off injured during the early stages of City’s 1-0 win at Brentford before the international break, confirming afterwards that he had suffered a hamstring issue, and subsequently withdrew from the Spain squad over the international break.

Though he has played it down as a minor issue, it is another setback for the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner, who missed the majority of last season with a serious knee injury and has also dealt with further issues already this term.

Asked for an update on Rodri at his pre-Everton press conference on Friday, City boss Pep Guardiola admitted: “I don't know when he will be back.”

Compatriot Nico Gonzalez replaced Rodri off the bench at Brentford and deputises once more against an Everton team that are missing in-form City loanee Jack Grealish, who is ineligible to face his parent club.

Mateo Kovacic and Omar Marmoush have returned to the bench for City; the former is yet to play club football this season thanks to an Achilles injury, while Marmoush has been out of action since August with a knee injury.

Rayan Cherki also makes the bench, having returned to training before the international break after not playing since August.

Fellow summer signing Rayan Ait-Nouri, who had been dealing with an ankle injury since August, joined Marmoush in returning to City training this week but has not made the matchday squad, with Nico O’Reilly starting again at left back. There’s also a benching for Josko Gvardiol, which means Nathan Ake partners Ruben Dias in central defence.
