Man City are 'ready to rival' Liverpool for Marc Guehi

A new report has claimed Man City are interested in Marc Guehi, with Liverpool set to be ‘rivalled’ for the 25-year-old’s signature next summer.

Despite Guehi’s failed deadline day transfer to Liverpool, the Reds are still hopeful of landing the centre-back next summer – a move in January has been ruled out.

While the Crystal Palace captain’s most likely destination remains Merseyside, Liverpool could now face competition from elsewhere, with Man City among those most strongly linked.

The Mirror‘s chief football writer, John Cross, has reported that Man City “are ready to rival Liverpool to sign Guehi as a free agent next summer, and it could develop into a huge transfer tug-of-war.”

As others have done, Cross also mentioned Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Internazionale and Juventus as interested parties, though it seems more probable Guehi will stay in the Premier League.

While we would expect Guehi to still sign for Liverpool next summer, the increasing speculation involving other clubs will serve to potentially drive up the salary offered by the Reds.

It was on this day in 2001 that Steven Gerrard cupped his ear to the stands as Liverpool completed a comeback 3-1 win at Goodison Park – how has it been 24 years?!

Kevin Campbell had put the Blues ahead after only four minutes, but Gerrard, of course, had something to say about that with a stunning goal to make it 1-1.

Donning the No. 17, Gerrard silenced the Toffees and there was no going back for the Reds as Michael Owen went on to score from the penalty spot before John Arne Riise completed the scoring with a sublime solo goal.

“Ohhhhhhhhhh John Arne Riise, I wannnnna knowwwwww how you scored that goal!”
