England’s two most successful clubs meet at Old Trafford in a fight for third place in the Premier League

Manchester United host rivals Liverpool in the Premier League as England’s two most successful clubs scrap to beat the other into third place.

The fight for the Champions League places looks to have been wrapped up following United’s victory over Brentford on Monday and Liverpool’s win over Crystal Palace.

United will be looking to complete their first league double over Liverpool since 2015-16 after winning at Anfield earlier this season under Ruben Amorim.

Michael Carrick has won more points than any other Premier League manager since taking charge and a victory over Liverpool would do his chances of landing the job full-time no harm at all.

Liverpool, though, could go above United into third with a win in what has been a difficult season overall for the Premier League champions and head coach Arne Slot.
