Patrick Mahomes returned to Arrowhead Stadium wearing Argentina colors, and Lionel Messi’s team once again found a way through.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was spotted at Argentina’s 3-1 (AET) Men’s World Cup quarterfinal win over Switzerland, turning the match into one of the most star-studded nights of the tournament.

As per TN, Mahomes arrived at Arrowhead Stadium wearing an Argentina jersey and was accompanied by his wife, Brittany Mahomes, as he watched Messi and the Albiceleste move into the semifinals.

The stadium is usually Mahomes’ home. This time, it became Argentina’s stage.

Mahomes had already shown his admiration for Messi after Argentina’s dramatic comeback against Egypt, posting a goat emoji on social media in a clear reference to Messi’s status as the greatest of all time.

His presence against Switzerland only added to the idea that he has become a kind of unexpected good-luck charm for Argentina.

Mahomes joins Argentina party

TN described Mahomes as “the great figure of American sport today” and noted that his appearance in the stands did not go unnoticed.

The outlet also highlighted his connection to Kansas City, explaining that Arrowhead is the home of the Chiefs and that Mahomes often attends major events held in the city.

But the image that mattered most to Argentine fans was simple: Mahomes in the Argentina shirt, watching Messi chase another World Cup dream.

Argentina needed extra time to beat Switzerland, with the defending champions eventually winning 3-1 to set up a semifinal against England.

It was another tense knockout night, but Argentina again showed the resilience that has defined Messi’s final World Cup run.

Celebrities watch Messi’s Argentina

Mahomes was not the only major name in attendance.

As per Latinus, the Argentina-Switzerland quarterfinal became a celebrity event, with Jason Sudeikis, best known for playing Ted Lasso, also in the stadium alongside Brendan Hunt.

Italian football legend Roberto Baggio was also present, adding another iconic name to a night already centered on Messi.

The attention around the game showed how far Argentina’s pull now reaches.

Mahomes may belong to the NFL, but even one of American sport’s biggest stars wanted to be there for Messi and Argentina.
