Liverpool and Chelsea Offered 'One of the Best Midfielders in the World'

Liverpool and Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Monaco star Lamine Camara in a deadline-busting transfer, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.

The West London outfit are expected to be busy in the final days of the transfer window, having already brought in 12 new faces this summer and also agreed a deal for young defender Honest Ahanor from Atalanta.

Liverpool are also expected to be busy, having provisionally agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Bradley Barcola in a package worth in the region of £120m, including add-ons, while they are also looking to bring in other forwards too.

But midfield is an area that both clubs would also be keen to strengthen if the right opportunity presents itself, and the club have been offered the chance to sign Senegal international Camara in a late move.

GIVEMESPORT sources understand that the Monaco star has been offered to the two Premier League sides as a late window opportunity.

The Ligue 1 club are understood to be open to a sale at the right price, although their valuation is unclear at this stage. Crystal Palace have also shown an interest in this transfer window, and had a formal bid rejected earlier this month.

The combative midfielder has been regarded as one of the most exciting midfield prospects in France in recent seasons, and Monaco need to raise funds after missing out on Champions League football for this campaign.

Chelsea are currently in talks with Manchester City about a move to sell Enzo Fernandez, with the Argentina international left out of the squad for the midweek EFL Cup win over Luton Town, despite Xabi Alonso saying he was available prior to the game.

Camara could be seen as a replacement for the World Cup winner, and would compete for minutes in midfield alongside Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and new signing Jordan Henderson.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have seen Curtis Jones depart Anfield to join Inter Milan in this window, which has left them quite short in midfield. The club had planned to promote youngster Trey Nyoni to a more prominent role to replace him, but the opportunity to sign Camara could see them change their mind.

Filipe Luis: Camara 'One of the Best In the World'

Camara enjoyed a fine African Cup of Nations tournament for Senegal earlier this year, and returned to Monaco to enjoy a strong second half of the season too.

New manager Filipe Luis has come into the club and immediately praised the 22-year-old, admitting that while he hoped to keep hold of him for the upcoming season, he knew his exit was a possibility.

"We are probably talking about one of the best midfielders in the world," he said.

"I don't want to talk about him too much, because I know a lot of clubs would love to have him in their squad, and he is very important to me.

"He has that quality on the ball, covers a lot of ground, he is truly top class! I am really happy to have him, and he is going to play a key role in the team.

"Keeping him? I am very hopeful he will stay. I think he is happy in Monaco. So if he stays, he can play a key role in my game plan."
