Viktor Gyokeres teammate drops huge transfer hint as Man United get update after 'agreement'

The Sweden international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, but it remains to be seen who will win his signature - with Arsenal reportedly already making moves.

Sporting Clube de Portugal winger Pedro Goncalves dropped a major hint about Viktor Gyokeres' future during their league title celebrations, amid links to Manchester United.

The Liga Betclic title was decided on the final day of the season, with Sporting and local rivals Benfica entering the last matchday level on 79 points. Goncalves and Gyokeres scored the goals for the Lions in their 2–0 home win over Vitoria Guimaraes, while Benfica were held to a 1-1 draw by SC Braga.

It was their third league title in five years following Sporting's triumph in 2021, which ended a 19-year drought. Their celebrations went long into the night, starting at the Estadio Jose Alvalade before a title parade through Lisbon that ended at Marques de Pombal, where thousands awaited their arrival.

Speaking from the open-top bus, Goncalves addressed the fans, saying: "I just want to tell you all something… They said we were never going to be champions without fans (during Covid), they said we were never going to be two-time champions without [Ruben] Amorim, they said we were never going to win the league without [Hugo] Viana.

"They say we won’t be three-time champions without Viktor [Gyokeres]. And now, what I want to say is that, we’ll see."

After Goncalves suggested that Gyokeres might not be part of Sporting's potential title celebrations next year, kitman Paulinho said there will be good news regarding the striker's future following the Taça de Portugal final on May 25.

He said: "You know what I'm going to tell you? After the Cup game you'll hear some good news, ok? I don't lie. Last year you saw that I don't lie."

Gyokeres' future has been a constant topic of discussion as he continues heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, including United and Arsenal. United are keen to sign a new striker this summer.

It has been widely reported he could leave the Portuguese giants and the latest reports suggest that Arsenal have already offered the striker a £7 million-a-year salary after tax and are expected to make a formal bid to Sporting for the player with personal terms already 'agreed'.

But when asked about his future, the Swede kept his cards close to his chest. "It's football, I'm still here. I don't know what's going to happen. Nobody can predict the future," he told Sport TV after the game when asked if it would be his last game at Jose Alvalade.
