India’s Probable XI For Manchester Test Vs England: The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is entering its decisive phase. England are ahead and India are fighting to keep themselves on level terms. The series began with England pulling off a massive chase to take 1-0 lead before India responded in kind with a record victory to make it one-all. Lord’s then served a thriller with England again regaining the lead. Now, the focus shifts to Manchester where the fourth Test will be held and it could decide the fate of the series. A draw will mean England cannot lose the trophy while a win for India keeps the series alive and makes the fifth and final contest the decider.

India’s Injury Concerns For 4th Test

Ahead of the contest though India are struggling on fitness front with several players battling various injuries with two of them ruled out from the 4th Test that starts from Wednesday (July 23).

Allrounder Nitish Reddy’s tour has ended after he injured his left knee while Arshdeep won’t be available for selection owing to a cut to his bowling hand which he suffered during a practice session in Beckenham.

Reddy played in two Tests (Birmingham and Lord’s) while Arshdeep is yet to get a game.

Additionally, there’s still uncertainty over right-arm pacer Akash Deep who has a groin issue. Akash took a 10-wicket haul in Birmingham to help India secure a 336-run win. A call on him will reportedly be taken today.

Rishabh Pant also is dealing with a finger injury but has been keeping in the training sessions.

Will Jasprit Bumrah Play At Old Trafford?

Mohammed Siraj on Monday lifted the clouds of uncertainty over fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s availability. Thanks to the workload management, Bumrah is to play in three Tests of the tour and with him playing at Lord’s, his participation in two successive fixtures was doubtful. A nine-day gap between the third and fourth Tests in addition to the importance of this contest means the 31-year-old will likely play in Manchester.

“Jassi (Bumrah) bhai will play only, that’s what we know for now. But the combination is changing day by day," Siraj told reporters.

Who Replaces Nitish Reddy?

There’s growing support for the inclusion of left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Besides being an attacking option, the wrist-spinner adds variety to the bowling attack. However, given the weather forecast of a rainy Manchester during the contest making conditions more conducive for fast bowlers, India may be tempted to play Shardul Thakur who was benched after the series opener.

Debut For Anshul Kamboj?

It’s been quite a year for Haryana fast bowler Anshul Kamboj. From rubbing shoulders with MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings in IPL to now potentially making his India debut, it’s been quite eventful. The 24-year-old pacer was part of India A squad and played in the two unofficial Tests against England Lions prior. He took five wickets in them including four in the second Test.

Should Akash Deep be ruled out, Kamboj could make his Test debut. However, the tourists have another option in Prasidh Krishna who reportedly troubled top India batters during the practice session.

India’s Probable XI For Manchester Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Karun Nair/B Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Shardul Thakur/Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Akash Deep/Anshul Kamboj/Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
