GAA live updates: All-Ireland final in sight for Kerry as they ease clear of Tyrone

0
60 mins: Kerry are just seeing this out now. Spillane pops his second and they’re nine clear. Kerry 1-19 Tyrone 0-13

56 mins: Different story at the other end. David Clifford cuts in off the right to put up another one, bringing him to 1-8 for the day. Kerry 1-17 Tyrone 0-13

53 mins: Tyrone’s shooting has been awful in the second half. Mark Bradley and Peter Harte are both on the pitch and they’ve both missed kickable chances now. That’s four points from nine shots since the break. Their heads are starting to drop here. Kerry 1-16 Tyrone 0-13

50 mins: Killian Spillane announces his arrival with a trademark point. Kerry’s tails are up and they’re flying. Tyrone have to dig in now or the game will get away from them. Kerry 1-16 Tyrone 0-13

48 mins: O’Connor is putting in an All Star day. That’s his second point of the afternoon - and he was bearing down on goal for it too. Kerry 1-14 Tyrone 0-13

45 mins: If Kerry don’t win this, they’ll be kicking themselves with the amoutn of goal chances they’ve missed. Joe O’Connor blazes one over the bar. In the next breath, Dylan Geaney rolls one wide. They genuinely could have seven goals here. Kerry 1-13 Tyrone 0-13

42 mins: Canavan is on fire. That’s six points for him today, this one floated over from the left with his left foot. But David Clifford isn’t going to take that lying down and he spins a gorgeous one over at the other end. Kerry 1-12 Tyrone 0-13

39 mins: Another goal chance for Kerry! They could have five. Paudie Clifford got in behind to latch onto a lovely pass from O’Shea but Morgan forced him wide and he chipped it over the bar. Kerry 1-11 Tyrone 0-12

38 mins: A huge two-pointer for Canavan! There’s definitely a breeze blowing down towards the Canal End and Tyrone won’t be afraid to use it. One in it. Kerry 1-10 Tyrone 0-12

37 mins: Another goal chance for Kerry but Paudie Clifford gets crowded out. David Clifford makes up for it with a free. Kerry three ahead agin. Kerry 1-10 Tyrone 0-10

36 mins: Tyrone get the second half underway with a point by Darragh Canavan, straight from the throw-in. Kerry 1-9 Tyrone 0-10

Half-time: Kerry 1-9 Tyrone 0-9. Tyrone finish out the half with a well-worked point by Mattie Donnelly and that’s that. A goal between them at the break. Kerry probably should be further ahead - they’ve butchered a couple of decent goal chances. But Tyrone are on top at midfield and can kick on after the break.

Half-time: Kerry 1-09 Tyrone 0-09

34 mins: Joe O’Connor is having a stormer. He’s fouled in the act of shooting there and Clifford pops the free. Kerry 1-9 Tyrone 0-8

29 mins: GOAL for Kerry! And of course David Clifford doesn’t make the same mistake twice. Thje back-door cut worked again and this time he feinted and dummied and rolled his finish to the net. Kerry 1-8 Tyrone 0-8

27 mins: Ooof! David Clifford definitely did not take his point in the same position, off the same back-door cut. He went for the top corner and nearly hit the corner flag. But at the other end, Darragh Canavan turns Murphy inside out and raises a huge roar with his second point. Tyrone 0-8 Kerry 0-7

25 mins: Great chance! Mattie Donnelly got in behind on a backdoor cut and was straight through on Shane Ryan but shot over. I think he took his point there. Tyrone 0-7 Kerry 0-7

Mattie Donnelly scores a point for Tyrone, but it could have been much worse for Kerry

22 mins: So close! Joe O’Connor trucks through the Tyrone defence and almost puts Seanie Shea away but Niall Morgan dives full length to flick it away. It’s a free for David Clifford - O’Connor had been fouled on the way through. But that’s some intervention from Morgan. Clifford ices the free and Kerry are ahead for the first time. Kerry 0-7 Tyrone 0-6

21 mins: David Clifford is humming. That’s a sumptuous two-pointer into the Canal End to being the sides level. And he almost follows up with another! But it just catches the post and falls to the waiting Kieran MCGeary. Tyrone 0-6 Kerry 0-6

18 mins: There’s no stopping that. David CLifford is left one-on-one with Hampsey and he skins him before smashing it over the bar. Tyrone 0-5 Kerry 0-4

16 mins: Kerry’s efficiency is going to have to improve. O’Shea hits the post when clean through, following a wide from Gavin White and a short ball from David Clifford. Tyrone are missing nothing. But that’s a handy free for O’Shea and there’s two in it. Tyrone 0-5 Kerry 0-3

14 mins: Over and back, over and back. David Clifford feeds Dylan Geaney for a Kerry setller but Tyrone get their kick-out away easily again and this time it’s McElholm who scores his first championship point at Croke Park. Tyrone 0-5 Kerry 0-2

12 mins: Ciarán Daly has his second point. It came this time from the Tyrone kick-out, Seanie O’Donnell gathering a break and sending them away. Great start from Tyrone. Tyrone 0-4 Kerry 0-1

A fourth point without reply for Tyrone as Ciarán Daly scores his second point of the day

6 mins: Tyrone come up with another Kerry kick-out and Kieran McGeary puts them two ahead. Tyrone 0-3 Kerry 0-1

5 mins: SAVE! Shane Ryan dives to his left to deny McCurry. That came from a Kerry kick-out - Tyrone have the upper hand around the middle so far. McCurry seemed to decide late that he was going to go for it and Ryan got a stron hand to it.

4 mins: Lovely score from Ciarán Daly to get Tyrone off the mark, set up by Eoin McElholm. Tyrone win the kick-out and Seanie O’Donnell is fouled for a tap=over free. Tyrone lead. Tyrone 0-2 Kerry 0-1

3 mins: David Clifford draw a free with a back-door cut, Seanie Shea taps it over. Kerry 0-1 Tyrone 0-0

1 min: Game on. As expected, Pádraig Hampsey has gone on to DAvid CLifford. Niall Devlin picks up Paudie CLifford and Tyrone seem to be letting Seanie Shea float with no obvious marker. At the other end, Paul Murphy picks up Darren McCurry and Jason Foley has Darragh Canavan.

It’s so hot down there. The Kerry back-room staff are handing bags of ice to the players as they parade around to hold to their necks.

They’re parading around by the Cusack Stand. Anthems are a minute or two away. The place is rocking.

Changes for both teams, as expected. Our man Gordon Manning has sent an update...

"Good afternoon from Costa del Croke Park on one of the hottest weekends of the year so far in 2025.

“Up here in the press box on level seven there is some much welcome shade but on pitch level the sun is beating down and the soaring temperatures will certainly have an impact on this All-Ireland SFC semi-final between Kerry and Tyrone.

There is some big team news on both sides:

KERRY: Paudie Clifford and Mark O’Shea both start, with Graham O’Sullivan and Conor Geaney dropping to the bench.

TYRONE: Eoin McElholm and Ben McDonnell will start, with Peter Harte and Rory Brennan dropping out. Share O’Hare will now wear the Tyrone number six jersey on the bench, with Brennan not part of the squad. McElholm’s inclusion raised a significant cheer from the Tyrone fans inside the stadium.

Croke Park is a blend of sunscreen and expectation. It should be a cracker.

Phew. If the Kerry v Tyrone game is half as exciting as that, we have a long evening ahead of us. Back for that in a bit.

FULL-TIME: A Limerick free brings it back to three points and they’ve won the ball from the kick-out - can they get a goal? Oh my word they so nearly did! Darragh Murray’s shot was saved by the feet of Cian Burke and the ball rebounded to Rory O’Brien. With the goal at his mercy, he blazed it over the bar!! The Limerick players fall to the ground and Kildare are the Tailteann Cup champions. What a mad finish to a cracking game! Kildare 1-24 Limerick 2-19

Kildare win the Tailteann Cup. In a pulsating finale, Limerick almost snatched a dramatic goal to force extra-time but the Lilywhites put their bodies on the line to survive.

67 mins: The heat is catching up with everybody - there are players down with cramp all over the pitch. The pace of the game has slowed to a crawl, which suits Kildare perfectly. That’s another wide from Limerick, as they chase two-pointers. That’s that, you’d imagine. Kildare 1-24 Limerick 2-17

63 mins: Make that a three-point lead. McLoughlin notches his second since coming off the bench. Limerick are struggling to get their kick-outs away and Dalton capitalises to make it four. Kildare 1-24 Limerick 2-17

61 mins: Kirwan has been phenomenal for Kildare. That’s eight points for him today, all from play. It maintians their two-point lead and time is starting to run out for Limerick. Kildare 1-22 Limerick 2-17

59 mins: And just like that, Kildare reel off points from Kirwan, Tommy Gill and Kevin Feely, putting them two points up. Kildare 1-21 Limerick 2-16

55 mins: A huge two-pointer from substitute Brian McLoughlin draws Kildare level. Limerick hit back with a point from Cillian Fahy to push them one clear but it should be more - they’re wasting lots of chances and keeping Kildare in this. Limerick 2-16 Kildare 1-18

48 mins: GOAL for Limerick! Killian Ryan scythes through the middle of the Kildare defence and pulls the trigger. It takes a deflection and beats Burke in the Kildare goal. Limerick are leading - and rightly so. They’ve been much the better team since half-time. Limerick 2-15 Kildare 1-16

45 mins: This is a right old ding-dong now. Ian Corbett cuts the gap to one, Darragh Kirwan hits back at the other end. Frantic stuff with 25 to go. Kildare 1-16 Limerick 1-14

42 mins: A two-point free from Josh Ryan and Limerick have cut the gap to two! That came from a solo-and-go that Kildare tried to stop too quickly. Ryan swished it over from the 40m arc and they have all the momentum now. Kildare will really have to dig in to win this. Kildare 1-15 Limerick 1-13

38 mins: They’re back underway in the second half and they’ve both put up a point since the restart. Ryan Sinkey cut inside for a gorgeous effort for Kildare but Limerick have hit back with two on the bounce, the latest from Tony McCarthy. Limerick have also kicked a ciouple of wides since the break. They are getting plenty of possesion but their wide count is building. Can’t afford too many more, you’d think. Kildare 1-14 Limerick 1-11

Half-time: Kildare 1-13 Limerick 1-9. Really entertaining half of football. KIldare looked like they were going to run away with it after 20 minutes. Then Limerick knuckled down to cut an eight-point game down to three. Which, in turn, rousted Kildare to see out the half with three of the last four points. Still probably Kildare’s to lose but Limerick can hang with them, that much is clear.

33 mins: Kildare have landed their first score in 15 minutes, a lovely effort from Colm Dalton. Limerick have a golden chance to hit back immediately but that’s a terrible miss from Neville. And to compound it, Kildare go up the other end and Beirne nails a point of his own. Kildare 1-12 Limerick 1-9

29 mins: Limerick aren’t going away at all. They’ve had all the possession in the past five or six minutes but only have a Josh Ryan 45 to show for it. Still, this game looked like it might get away from them so they’ll be happy to have settled it down a bit. Kildare 1-10 Limerick 1-7

22 mins: Kildare are purring now. Daniel Flynn notches one, Kirwan follows up with another classy two-pointer. In fairness to Limerick though, they’ve stopped the rot with a couple of quick points from Emmet Richter and Danny Neville. And sloppy work from the Kildare goalie Cian Burke gives Limerick a cheap free in front of the posts. James Naughton duly obliges and it’s a four-point game, out of nothing. Kildare 1-10 Limerick 1-6

14 mins: GOAL for Kildare. What a score by Alex Bierne. He got the ball at the top of the D, played a lovely give-and-go before burying his finish to the Limerick net. That’s a four-point gap for Kildare after reeling off 1-4 on the bounce. Kildare 1-7 Limerick 1-3

A strong reponse from Kildare - and they get their goal, a beautifully composed effort from Alex Beirne

12 mins: Limerick have made a quick start here with a goal from Cillian Fahy after six minutes. But Kildare haven’t take a backward step since and Darragh Kirwan has just reeled off an orange flag followed by a white one and the sides are level. Kildare 0-6 Limerick 1-3

We’ll be with you well into the evening, by which time the temperature will hopefully have dipped to something a bit less Saharan.

It’s a hot one!
