Arsenal have had to play second fiddle to the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in their recent Premier League title pushes, but currently sit six points clear of Pep Guardiola's side in this year's race for the title. City are looking to strengthen their squad with the recent arrival of Antoine Semenyo and are expected to confirm Marc Guehi's arrival soon.

Arsenal keen on Arda Guler

ESPN claims Arsenal are keen on a move for Real Madrid star Arda Guler in the summer transfer window, with an eye on long-term planning to help evolve their squad. The report claims that after spending more than £250m on signings in the summer, they'll wait until the end of the season before bolstering their ranks further.

It claims the Gunners are keen on a move for Rodrigo Mendoza, a 20-year-old midfielder from Elche, while Guler is another talent they're very aware of. The Turkiye international looked as though he was going to become a key member of Xabi Alonso's squad this season, but he's fallen down the pecking order this season.

With Alonso departing the Bernabeu, it's not clear how Guler will fare under new coach Alvaro Arbeloa, but did start in the Copa del Rey defeat at Albacete. Arsenal are not expected to do any business this month, unless a real opportunity presents itself.

TeamTalk claims Arsenal are 'real contenders' to sign rising French star Jeremy Jacquet amid ongoing speculation about his future. The Stade Rennais defender is emerging as one of the hottest prospects in French football and the 20-year-old has been linked with several clubs in England.

The report claims Andrea Berta is keeping a close eye on the defender, but Sky Sports claim Chelsea are also interested in the centre-back. The latter adds Liam Rosenior's side are close to bringing in a new defender this month, so Arsenal may have competition on their hands.

Rennes are reportedly looking to keep hold of the player until the summer, which could play into the Gunners' hands.
